My Father’s Squashes

My dad planted some squashes on the vacant lot next to our Cavite house sometime in April, a few days after our move-in. Months later, they started to bear fruits. They continued to supply us with fresh, organic squashes until last Monday when construction began at the lot they were occupying. Everyone in the family got sad, including the neighbors who have also benefited from them.

The good thing is, there are still a few more vegetables left growing in the little garden in front of our house. My parents enjoy planting new crops and tending on them on a daily basis. It serves as their unique form of exercise. The organic produce they get regularly not only improves their health, but also helps keep their food expenses to a minimum.

Globe Upgrade: My Fully Loaded Plan 499

Four months ago, I had finally decided to be a Globe postpaid subscriber after having been a prepaid subscriber for years. I chose Globe’s My Super Plan 349 which gave me unlimited text to Globe/TM monthly. I noticed that I was consuming more than the one-time charge of P349 and so I opted to get an upgrade. (Any Globe postpaid subscriber can do this.)

I am supposed to be a My Fully Loaded Plan 499 subscriber effective today. That was what the Globe Customer Service representative I talked with on the phone last night told me. I’m taking his word seriously.

My First Birthday Trip

Right now, I’m excited about two things: our upcoming house move and my first birthday trip. I’m more excited about the latter, just because this is the first time I will be out of town on my birthday. Actually, it’s we, not I.

The boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our birthdays (which are only one week apart) in Boracay. We’ll be there second week of October and that’s barely two weeks from now. I have spent my afternoon today browsing the internet for tips on what food/sights/activities to try and experience in one of the best beaches in the world. (Proud to be Filipino, ehem.)

Rated: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

I like Nicolas Cage as an actor and so I follow his every movie whenever I can. I just finished watching The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Cage’s latest film. Here, he plays a Merlin-trained sorcerer trying to defend New York from the hands of his former bestfriend who’s now an evil sorcerer. He makes an apprentice out of a science nerd who happens to be a very important sorcerer without his knowing it.

Together with the apprentice, Cage’s character Balthazar Blake tries to keep Merlin’s arch enemy from taking over the world through a destructive spell. For the apprentice, it’s a great test of character as he unleashes his hidden gift to save mankind and open up his true feelings for his childhood sweetheart. For the sorcerer, it’s completing his mission of finding Merlin’s successor and reuniting with the love of his life.

The Big Move

I talked with the owner of the apartment I was eyeing the other day. We haven’t agreed on the final rent yet, but it seems the deal has been closed. I will go back to his house tomorrow to issue the necessary post-dated checks to his secretary. My target date for moving in is October 15, barely a month from now.

Finally, we’re moving into a bigger house. It has a bedroom, a bathroom and a space big enough to serve as kitchen and living room, very much like what you’d get from a typical condo unit. It’s on the top floor of a three-storey building. We’ll be using the stairs to get there, but I don’t think it would be much of a problem with me and my siblings.

Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt is My Kind of Yogurt

Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt made its way into SM Manila a few months ago. It’s located at the ground floor, on the corner of SM Supermarket beside Cyberzone. I always see this yogurt shop whenever the boyfriend and I hit the mall after office hours. One random weekday I finally got the chance to try it. All I can say is, it’s my kind of yogurt.

my first cup of Tutti Frutti yogurt

The frozen yogurt at Tutti Frutti isn’t that affordable at P20 per ounce but its clean taste and natural flavor gives the value for money we, as consumers, always look for. I’m a big fan of yogurt (juice, frozen and as is) that liking my first cup of Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt wasn’t hard at all. I enjoyed each spoonful and even accidentally discovered a new topping that goes well with the creamy-tangy taste of yogurt — gummy bears! Try it and you’ll be surprised.
