New Hope, Less Expectation

I just received a good news in the form of an email. A new opportunity is presenting itself again. I dunno if I should be happy or sad, excited or nervous, about it. I’m having mixed feelings right now. But definitely, I’m giving it another shot. Who knows, it would be mine now. My words may be vague and puzzling to you, but the surprise I got this afternoon is worth a lot. Crazy as it sounds, but I think my future depends on it.

I failed in it the last time. How would I fare this time around? I have just been given new hope, but I have decided to expect less. I don’t want to imagine things. I want them to appear right before my eyes, to come my way. This is it. There’s no turning back. I wanna win this but surprisingly for me, I dunno how. Perhaps, I’ll just give it my best shot and see what happens from there…

My Brother is Buying a New Desktop!

The laptop we have at home has been in need of repair since last year. One day it just went super slow and using it meant we had to wait ten years before it would even start up. We tried formatting it to correct the problem, but to no avail. According to the fiancee, it could be due to memory or hard disk damage. Did I mention its battery was busted, too?

Classes are opening soon and the need for a computer is presenting itself again. My brother who’s a new teacher, for instance, needs one at home so he could prepare presentations and other instructional materials. My two siblings, who are in college, need a PC as well to keep up with their school requirements. Given the situation, we think it’s about time we have our laptop repaired or we get a new desktop. My brother suggested that we do the latter and he’d be the one to shoulder the expenses. He said he’d forego his plan to get life insurance for now. (I saw him the other night scrutinizing various cheap life insurance qoutes over at www.trustedquote.com via his mobile phone internet.)

My brother’s intention to pay for the new desktop sounded good to me, so I said yes. Haha. I might pay for the internet subscription to complement the desktop, but I’m still undecided about it. I’ll see what I can do when I check my payslip for the salary increase we’re getting starting next month.

Thank God It’s Friday!

This week has been busy and long for me. Thank God it’s Friday already. My plans for the weekend are still unclear. But I have a walking-running event for a cause on Sunday (May 29) at the Mall of Asia. It’s dubbed as “End of Hunger: Walk the World” and organized by the United Nation’s World Food Programme (WFP) along with local partners. The event aims to generate funds for their school feeding programs in Mindanao. If you’re interested to join, they have onsite registration, just be there starting at 5:00 a.m.

On a different note, my laser underarm hair removal treatment vouchers are still untouched. I’m positive that I’ll be able to get my first session this Saturday. Time is passing by and so is the validity period of the vouchers. I better use them up or end up wasting them. I guess it’s time for me to set an appointment with the beauty center. But only after I have helped a friend canvass for Smilebox invitations for the upcoming birthday of her kiddo. I better get moving!

Movie Review: In the Name of Love

I’m a sucker for good Pinoy movies, the ones that are well-thought of, well-executed, and have ensemble cast. Most Star Cinema movies I have watched before belong to this class. While I don’t like it that most, if not all, of their films end on a happy note (the happily-ever-after kind), I still watch them because of three things: good story, intriguing trailer and smart pairing of lead characters.

I have recently watched their latest offering, In the Name of Love. It is starred by Aga Muchlach, Angel Locsin and Jake Cuenca. Intriguing trailer aside, I watched this film because I heard it took them one year to finish the movie. I thought it meant something good. Apparently, I was right. The movie was good and effective in unleashing a thousand emotions from the viewers (yours truly included). To say that I got teary-eyed several times is an understatement. I actually cried!

#001: 10 Things to Be Thankful for Last Week

With the busy life that I lead, I know I tend to forget appreciating the blessings coming my way. I also tend to forget thanking the one above for each and every little grace I receive. Okay, I guess I’m starting to feel guilty now. To appease my inner (and kinder) self, I have decided to blog about the 10 things I should be thankful for last week. Yes, last week and not this week because it isn’t over yet. Last week as the time period to be considered is safer because I can definitely enumerate the things that made me happy in that week, though it’s gonna be in no particular order.

I hope this becomes a weekly thing for this blog. Just like what I’ve been seeing in some other blogs I’ve been blog hopping on. I won’t promise though lest I fail myself. Without further a do, here they are:

Back from the Beach Trip

My first summer outing has just come to an end. As expected, it was fun and relaxing. I couldn’t ask for more. Two days of basking in the sun and frolicking in the surprisingly clear Quezon waters was invigorating. I loved the touch of my feet in the fine brown sand. At one moment, I even felt like I was in Panglao and Boracay. The private beach resort we went to was plain and nothing exceptional but it sure relieved my longing for the sea and all the fun that came with it. I was very satisfied.

Now that I’m back home, I can’t help but reminisce of my first summer adventure this 2011. Spending time with the fiancee and his officemates is something I won’t mind doing again. The road trip we had Friday night was an awesome experience in itself, from the zig zag road and the stop overs to our funny car conversations and finally, arrival in our lodging house for the night. I was exhausted when I got home, yes, but it was all worth it. I would have wanted to extend our stay in Quezon but reality bit…I still had tons of work to do online and offline. Actually I’ve just awaken several minutes ago and right now, I’m checking my mails while reading up human growth hormone reviews. This is gonna be a long night, but I’m not complaining. I had a fun weekend, after all.
