OPM is Great and Fun

Last night, I had the chance to watch an Original Pilipino Music (OPM) concert at the beautiful and well-manicured Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati. It was sponsored by Avida Land, a company belonging to the Ayala Group. Outstanding Pinoy performers and bands in the likes of Arnee Hidalgo, Sitti, True Faith, 6CycleMind, 143, Jim Paredes and a lot more graced the stage and performed Pilipino originals to the delight of the big crowd.

Indeed, Filipino music has gone quite far. Thanks to these people who continue to promote OPM in the country despite the tough competition against foreign music brands (hello K-Pop and Western tunes). But there is still so much to do to ensure OPM is passed from one generation of Pinoys to the next. I can only think of the power of the internet to ensure we keep the flame of our love for OPM alive.

Warts Removal at Cavite Skin Clinic

After getting two recommendations from two different friends for this good skin clinic in Imus, Cavite, I finally decided to go there for my warts removal. I even tagged my mom along as she was actually the one who needed it the most.

The name of the clinic was Cavite Skin Clinic. It lies along Aguinaldo Highway near the PLDT Office and the toll bridge pointing to the road going to Imus Town Proper. It is quite easy to locate. If you’re from Manila and commuting, ride a bus plying the Imus-Dasmariñas routes. The clinic is on the left side and across it is a 7-Eleven Store.[UPDATE: clinic is now situated beside the 7-Eleven store]

Lusting Over a New Gadget

The mobile phone I’m using at present is a Nokia E63. It’s been with me since last year and so far, it’s been working perfectly. I’m careless (or is it clumsy?) when it comes to my phone. It slips through my hands without my knowing it. Accidents do happen, but in the case of my phone, I think I’m the accident that it needs to guard itself from at all times.

But my Nokia E63 is a tough gadget. The jelly bean case that holds it makes it all the more durable. Despite the many times I’ve dropped it on the floor (at varying heights and degrees), it has remained in tip-top shape. I have come to realize that this is the right phone for me. I couldn’t ask for more, until I saw some tablet touch screens at SM Cyberzone the other day. I was torn between the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab. There was also the Blackberry Playbook which had sleek and stylish design.

The Working Weekend That Passed

Last weekend was exhausting. Instead of taking some rest, I spent my Saturday and Sunday working in the office. This was all because of the 113th Philippine Independence Day. I was not complaining, though. It happens only once a year and for good reasons. We always want to remember the gallantry of our ancestors and thank them for the freedom we are enjoying today, don’t we?

I’m glad that our efforts paid off. The two events we organized for the historic 12th of June were a success. After all the hard work came the time to rest. As for me, I’m currently enjoying my two days off (today and tomorrow) and I’m making sure to spend them wisely. Actually, just this morning, I got my mom and myself visit a skin clinic to have our warts removed (will make a separate post for this soon). I also plan to update my blogs and do more freelance work (I just finished researching the benefits of malibu rehab treatment as compared to a local one a while ago) tomorrow.

#002: 10 Things to Be Thankful for Last Week

Life is good. When you’re having worries, remember that God won’t let you down. If you wished for something and it was granted, thank Him. If you wished for something and it wasn’t granted, thank Him still. Sometimes, our wishes come true in our time (the exact time we wanted it) and other times, in God’s time. I think the secret to a happy life is to remain thankful no matter what. Last week was a beautiful week for me. And these are the 10 reasons why I am very thankful to God for last week’s turn of events:

1. Our rented house here in Manila is now a wifi zone. Now we could surf as much as we want, any time of the day (and night).
2. The new TV cabinet in our Cavite home has made our living room there more lively and complete.
3. I had the pleasure of trying out new restaurants along with the fiancee and my family. Our latest food trips were at Nanos SM Manila and Corniche, Diamond Hotel.

My IPL Laser Underarm Hair Removal Experience (First Session)

Remember my plan to get rid of my underarm hair permanently? I have finally found the time to take the first step to that. As promised, I’m blogging about my experience in this blog. My first laser underarm hair removal treatment happened last night at White Beauty Face and Body Center (West Avenue branch). For this procedure, I used my Ensogo voucher which I got for P600.

.

First, I booked an appointment with White Beauty. Weekends were fully booked already so I had no choice but to have my treatment on a weekday. I asked for a 7:00 p.m. schedule so I could have enough travel time going there. Traffic was surprisingly light when we hit the road at 5:45. We got to the place just a little over 30 minutes. We got attended to as soon as we entered the door. By the way, I was accompanied by the fiancé and his sister. They gave me moral support all throughout the procedure. Haha.
