Home Thoughts

Right now, I’m thinking about our humble home in Cavite. It’s been almost two years since we settled there. It’s been my parent’s permanent abode and me and my sibling’s haven during the weekends. Gradually, we were able to improve our house and now it looks better than ever. Thank God for the financial blessings that allowed us to finance some very crucial home improvement projects!

I can still remember the time we install tile flooring in our house. A good friend from the US helped me with this and I won’t forget his kindness and generosity for that. As time went by, we were able to acquire new appliances that made our life easier and more comfortable. Then, one by one, we were able to secure our extension lot which now serves as our kitchen and lavatory, get grills and screens for our doors and windows and buy more household items that added color and depth to our home.

Christmas 2011

How was your Christmas celebration? Was it merry and fun? I hope so. My family and I celebrated Christmas in our humble home in Cavite. We had a simple Noche Buena on midnight. We had chicken noodle soup, queso de bola (edam cheese), holiday ham, sandwiches, fruit salad and softdrinks. We slept right after.

On Christmas day itself, my brother and I woke up early to prepare some dishes because we had visitors (including the fiancé and his sister A who would be fetching me and taking me back to Manila) coming over. My brother cooked menudo while I whipped up some Pinoy style spaghetti, fried some chicken and holiday ham and made some cheese sandwiches. The rest of the family was busy attending to well-dressed kids asking for their aguinaldos. By 8:00 p.m., I was already back in Manila ready to face a new work week.

My First Diamond Peel Experience at Clinica Medicci

It’s been ages since the last time I had a facial, or any facial treatment for that matter. So when I got some loose Paypal money last month and saw diamond peel treatment vouchers at Metrodeal.com, I just had to buy two for the fiancee and me. We used the vouchers last Saturday right after I had my IPL treatment at Power Peel Clinic.

EHow.com describes diamond peel treatment as “a non-surgical procedure in which the skin is exfoliated to remove dead skin cells using actual diamond chips to vacuum the skin away.” Others explain it simply as a mechanical peeling of the skin or microdermabrasion. As I experienced it, it was like a gentle facial treatment that left my face feeling extra smooth, glowing and radiant after. Even the fiancee’s face looked different in a good way!

Life Sans Internet

I can’t imagine life without internet connection. (I once wrote a poem about my internet addiction.) Sure, life would still be liveable but things would never be the same again without the internet. Like just the other day when the internet connection in our office suddenly acted up. I felt sad. I felt useless. Why would I not feel that way if everything I had to do on my PC needed the help of the internet?

I’ve never wanted a super fast internet connection. I just want a stable and reliable one. A big chunk of my work in the office relies to the internet to produce good output. My blogging depends highly on the internet for maintenance, promotion and exposure. Okay, that’s enough drama. Haha.

IPL Laser Underarm Hair Removal Treatment at Power Peel Clinic

UPDATE: Guess what, after just my third session, I’m now seeing good results from my IPL treatments at Power Peel Clinic!

I’ve tried getting IPL underarm hair removal treatment from two different beauty clinics before but I haven’t seen any positive results so I was quite wary about getting another treatment from yet another beauty clinic. I wanted to get rid of my underarm hair really bad, though, so when another deal from a Groupon site popped out, I bought four vouchers and decided to try my luck. Again.

This time, the merchant’s name is Power Peel Clinic. Prior to buying the vouchers, some of my blog visitors tipped me about the number of laser hits they got from the clinic which were way higher than what was given to me during my previous IPL treatments. As far as I know, the more laser hits you get, the better for your underarm and the more value for your money.

No Dieting for me this Christmas

It seems there’s no stopping me from eating well this holiday season. I can already feel it. The urge to eat and be merry is very strong. I’ve decided to not go against the flow and instead, embrace the glutton in me. Haha. Kidding aside, I’ve decided to not be conscious about eating until the holidays are over.

My pigging out started last Friday before, during and after our office Christmas party. There were just so many yummy treats in the office (mostly pastries and chocolates which were gifts to our boss that she happily shared with us!) that ignoring them would’ve been both a pity and a loss. The party itself was overflowing with food and drinks, too. And when I got home, I just had to have a midnight snack after watching the replay of my fave TV series online.
