Heavy Rains and Flooding in Manila

The heavy rains and flooding experienced in the whole of Metro Manila and nearby provinces the past days were due to the nasty Southwest moonsoon and typhoon Haiku. As expected, thousands of families have been displaced and several millions’ worth of properties have been destroyed. In this time of tribulation, I can only pray for the safety and fast recovery of my fellow countrymen.

I’m thankful to God that our families got spared from this calamity. That we only got to experience the flood outside of our homes and not inside of them. That we had enough food and clothing to warm our bodies. That we have survived this ordeal brought about by the forces of nature scot-free. We really are vulnerable to this kind of destruction and we can only do so much to protect ourselves. During times like this, everything is controlled by God so the only thing we can do is to entrust our lives to Him.

I hope the coming days will be better, weather-wise and all. And that more people and organizations will go out of their ways to alleviate the sufferings of our people, complementing government efforts in the process. If you think you can help in this direction, please don’t hesitate to offer a hand or two for at this point, every help counts.

Stay safe, people and may God bless the Philippines!
