Heart Scare

I think I have the most paranoid and anxious husband in the world. Last Tuesday, he got super worried and nervous because of the heart palpitation he felt after every meal time which would go away on its own after several minutes. I seriously thought it would have gone away faster than that if he remained calm and didn’t overreact. I know heart palpitation is a serious matter (it could easily lead to a heart attack!) but reacting negatively to it by getting nervous and all never helps. At all.

After a quick medical check-up, we found out that it was due to the high potassium level in his blood. (A few weeks ago, he started to eat lots of bananas and apples for a healthier diet.) While potassium helps greatly in the proper functioning of the heart, high amounts of this blood electrolyte can cause palpitation to some people. According to the doctor, the fact that the palpitation is temporary and goes away on its own means it’s nothing serious. Oh, thank God for that.

Change of Plans

Don’t you hate it when you have to change plans at the last minute? I do, especially if it’s weekend plans we’re talking about. I want my weekend to be as relaxing and fun as possible. I try to take as much rest as I could during the weekends. Weekends are almost sacred to me. Haha.

Last weekend, we were supposed to visit our family house in Naic to do some general cleaning. But because my parents had an errand to do, we had to re-schedule it to another date. Good thing another pleasant opportunity presented itself, for me at least. I was invited by my sister (the one with the new job) to go with her to a dinner event organized by their company for Saturday night. It was like a welcome party of sorts and each employee was asked to bring one companion. I asked where the venue was and when she told me it was at some resto inside Maxims Hotel, I didn’t hesitate to accept the invitation. I hadn’t been to that part of Resorts World Manila; I thought it was my chance to see a six-star hotel!

New Job and First Day Stress

Just to be clear, it’s not me who’s just landed a new job but my sister. Actually, today is her first day at work. I dunno with you, but every time my siblings take on a new adventure (be it anything), I’m the one who feels the stress or anxiety or pressure or excitement or whatever feeling you could associate with it. I feel as if I were the mother. It must be because, as the eldest child, I treat my siblings as my own children.

You see, my sister lost her job (she used to work as a retail assistant for Globe) a month or so ago. One morning after that misfortune, another misfortune happened. She accidentally hit her head in the restroom and got a big bump in her forehead which prevented her from looking for a new job for weeks. When she was finally able to apply for a job, she fortunately got one fast. And I couldn’t stop thanking God for the blessing.

Inspiring Friday

It’s the last of the weekdays again, and I feel like going home in Bacoor already. I want the weekend to start right now. Haha. But then, every day is special, so I might as well spend this day productively.

I don’t know with you, but I’m quite inspired today. Or more like this day is an inspiring day. I think it’s both. I’m gonna let this day pass doing the things I love. Currently, and aside from work, that includes Facebook-ing (I used to keep my FB account unopened for days!), Candy Crush-ing (this game is very addicting, but that’s for another post), checking on my parents (they live a few steps away from work), eating (that’s a given!) and spending time with the hubby (I start and end my day engaging in a conversation with him).

Office Team Building at Palm Beach Resort, San Juan, Batangas

After one postponement, our office’s team building activity/strategic planning workshop/summer outing has finally pushed through last May 6 & 7. It was held at Palm Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas. Since it fell on weekdays (Monday and Tuesday), our enjoyment was doubled. Having escaped work for two days straight was the best thing ever. Haha.

Palm Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas is a lovely place. It’s also more private and less crowded than the other resorts in the popular Laiya beach strip. (It must be the fact that it’s in a different barangay already and is tucked behind the mountains.)
