Hand-Me-Down Shoes

Used goods that are passed on to family or friends for free are called hand-me-downs. Aside from showing generosity, I think we give out hand-me-down stuff to avoid wastage of things that could still be useful to other people.

I have given out used things before and will continue to do so with my excess, may it be clothing, accessories or household items. I have also experienced receiving hand-me-downs from relatives and friends. When I was a kid living in the province, for instance, I’d get pre-loved clothes from my cousins living in Manila every summer. Yes, every summer vacation, they’d visit us and give me hand-me-downs (that were still in mint condition!) to my childish delight.

Rock of Ages Repeat Run

Two weekends ago, the hubby and I, along with his family, got the chance to watch the repeat run of Rock of Ages starring MiG Ayesa, Vina Morales and Nyoy Volante, among others. The smash hit musical of 2012 has been brought back here in Manila by the same group, Atlantis Productions. The venue remains to be at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza in Makati and the musical will be shown there until July 28, 2013.

We watched the special screening before and we loved it. The repeat run was just as good. The rock songs were sung boldly and the cast was once again superb. Even the electric guitarists of the band there performed well, stepping on the loop pedal with grace and ease. The loop pedal at musicians friend looks superior than the one they were using, but they still did their part that night.

Review: Shakey’s PCM App

One random night last week, the hubby was craving for pizza. He then called up Shakey’s delivery and after less than an hour, received two boxes of hand-tossed pizza at a buy one, take one promo using his Shakey’s Supercard.

Just the other night, it was me who was craving for pizza naman. It was a good thing that I learned about the Shakey’s PCM app. (PCM stands for pizza, chicken and mojos.) Instead of dialing Shakey’s delivery hotline and talking to a real person to place my order, I used the app to order my pizza. It’s quite easy to use. I just keyed in my Supercard number (the hubby’s, actually), chose your pizza/chicken/mojos, proceeded to checkout and sent my order via 3G (wifi is okay, too). After a few minutes, I received a call from a Shakey’s crew confirming my order and informing me how long the delivery would take. You see, they have this policy that if you received your pizza late, it’s free. I didn’t experience getting free pizza, though, because my order arrived on time. I guess luck wasn’t on my side then. Haha.

Freedom from Debts

I remember early this year, I told myself (and probably shared in this blog) that I wanted to be debt-free. No, not just me, but my husband as well. We have some credit card debts that need immediate financial attention. I’ve heard of other people’s horrible stories on credit card debts and while we’re far from credit card-related trouble, I can’t imagine ourselves getting into the same situation. It’s like it’s gonna be the end of the world for me.

I noticed that in the past two years, a good chunk of our supposed-to-be savings just went to our credit card obligations. I know there’s nobody else to blame but us. We made a lot of impulsive purchases (I once bought tons of cheap postcards just because they were on sale!) and spent money before it even came. Truly, a bad spending habit that needs to be curbed before it’s too late.

Family Movie Date

Last night was relaxing and fun as I joined the hubby and his family to a movie date. We watched Four Sisters and a Wedding, the latest Star Cinema film. At around 7pm, we headed to SM Manila and bought last full show tickets. Then we had dinner at Chow King, picked up some items at Watsons and grabbed some popcorn and bottled water before heading to the cinema to watch the movie.

Four Sisters and a Wedding was very entertaining and hilarious. It had the right mix of comedy, drama and some real life lessons on family, success, love and forgiveness. Among the cast, I liked Tony Gonzaga (Teddy) and Bea Alonzo (Bobby)’s acting the most. The former for giving comedic relief to the movie along with his pretend boyfriend Janus del Prado (Frodo) and the latter for her brilliant dramatic portrayal during those crucial family confrontation scenes.

Our SM Aura Experience

Yesterday, I went to SM Aura with the hubby and his family after hearing mass at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Shrine in Libis, QC. SM Aura is the newest mall in town. It’s located at the posh Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. It’s right beside two other commercial centers: Market! Market! and Serendra. It was our first time there so we explored it as much as our limited time could allow.

I love the design of SM Aura’s building as it looks so modern and stylish. The shops inside are also nice, although they’re obviously on the pricey side. SM Aura is marketed as a luxury mall, that’s why. When we were strolling around, I couldn’t resist entering the Forever 21 store and ended up buying two basic tops that were on sale. Their accessories section was also filled with beautiful things during our visit. They even had bold and funky rings that look like those college class rings for men except that they look good on women’s fingers, too.
