Baking with Edel: Homemade Chocolate Cake

I’ve learned and tried baking just recently. I remember my first finished product was a banana cake. It was followed by some brownies, then banana cake again. All had very satisfactory results. My husband loved it and so did the rest of our two families.

Last week, while reading a blog, I chanced upon a link to a chocolate cake recipe. I thought it was an easy one because it doesn’t need a mixer and requires only a few ingredients. The use of mayonnaise in lieu of butter and eggs also appealed to me, so I said to myself I’ll do it. And I did last Sunday morning. I actually made the ganache frosting the night before so it’d be ready to apply to the cake once it has finished baking.

I enjoyed baking the chocolate cake because it was pretty easy to do. I even thought the idea of using mayonnaise as one of the ingredients was genius. As promised, it really made the cake super moist and fluffy. Spreading the ganache frosting onto the cake was a treat in itself. It was my first time, after all. Haha.

My chocolate cake would have been perfect had I used a smaller bake pan. I think the recipe was made for it and not for my big cake pan. The result was just a 1-inch tall cake but it’s no big deal. It was gone in no time because it was so good! I guess I won’t mind baking another cake soon, but only if I’ll have the time for it. 🙂

  1. Wow, mukha ngang masarap. I have no patience with baking yet, maybe when the kiddos can really help (or at least not destruct me), then I’ll try my luck.

    Sample naman next time. 🙂
