A Packed Weekend

As much as I prefer to spend my weekends at home just cooking, baking, organizing, sleeping or doing other fun stuff, there are times when I have to go with the flow of activities my husband or his family has in mind. Like last weekend, for instance. My PILs both took a weekend-off and they decided to join us in Bacoor for the weekend. My SIL (one and only sibling of my husband) tagged along, too. It was two straight days of going out and doing things that families commonly do.

On Saturday, we traveled all the way to Antipolo to visit the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Shrine. It’s been a tradition for my PILs to go there before a scheduled trip to their province (they’re flying to Bohol on May 12 for their annual month-long vacay). After attending the morning mass, the brunch at McDo and the buying of suman and kasuy, we headed to Bacoor already. Before going to our marital home, we had a late lunch at Shakey’s first. We were too exhausted from our long trip that when we reached home, we all decided to doze off. Haha.

Online Garage Sale

I’ve talked about earning money by selling pre-loved stuff before. Recently, my superfriend Nice had thought of putting up an online garage sale and I liked the idea. I asked her if I could include some of my items in it and she agreed. Cool.

As of now, I only have two items up for sale in her All-Must-Go Online Garage Sale: a Canon 1000D and a Play Station 3. If you’re interested, they’re priced at just P12, 500 each only. Both are still in very good condition and knowing the hubby who’s very neat and careful with his stuff, you can be assured that what you are buying have been well-maintained and more importantly, well-loved.

Summer Plans

With the number of events we are organizing in the office from March to June, it seems that all my summer plans will either be cancelled or postponed to a later date. OMG, we are soooo busy these days!

But it’s okay. More work in the office means more opportunities to learn. More work in the office means stability. More work in the office means I am blessed with a job that pays.

Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary Celebration

It was a last-minute plan but I was so glad it pushed through. For our second wedding anniversary celebration, we had a staycation at Azumi Boutique Hotel in Alabang. It was a newly-opened hotel, well-managed and beautiful in every aspect. We just had an overnight stay there but we enjoyed every minute of it. We checked into the hotel on Sunday and left the place Monday noon.

If you’re also planning for a staycation, the hotel is highly recommended. I heard their rooms are discounted until April 2014.

Here are some photos we took of our simple celebration:

Thank You List

Living a simple life has its perks. You become more appreciative of your life. You become thankful even for the littlest blessing. When you are living simply, and uncomplicated at that, things get better and brighter and more fun. I can totally relate!

Last week, I started to list down the things that make me happy or thankful. Let’s call it my Thank You list. Writing on it doesn’t have to be everyday. What I do is I write only when I have something to write (common sense). Haha.

Cooking with Edel: Linguine Carbonara

While I love tomato-based pasta dishes, there are times when I crave for the white sauce-based ones. Carbonara is the only white sauce pasta I cook at home. Instead of the usual spaghetti or fettuccini, I use linguine in my carbonara because for me it has the right thickness, not too thin and not too wide.

This recipe is based from how I cook it and not adopted from other recipes found in cookbooks or online. Not to boast, but this dish is well-loved not only by my husband and our families but also by my closed friends and my godchildren. It’s creamy, buttery, sweet, salty, tasty, flavorful and all. In short, delicious. Haha.
