Shopping Fast: July Report

Note: I started my self-imposed shopping ban on January 1, 2014. I made it official online through this post, and called it a “shopping fast.” I also shared there the reasons why I took the challenge and laid down some rules to guide me while on it.

Holy Moly, it’s August already! For my July report, all I can say is I’m still shopping-free. Wohooo!

So far, no unnecessary purchases and no impulsive shopping. This is getting more exciting as time passes by. And it’s getting easier, too. The urge to shop is almost non-existent now. I dunno but it must be because I’m more conscious now as to where my money goes. I have also recently invested in the stock market (which I think is one of the best decisions I’ve made this year!).

My focus now is to save money, not spend, which is a very good thing, right? But that doesn’t mean I don’t pamper myself anymore because I still do, though it’s more regulated now. I still have fun and so many things are making me happy right now. I realized shopping is just one of the ways to have fun and be happy. There are more activities that give the same effect, we just have to be creative and imaginative.

Oooops, I almost forgot I did acquire an article of clothing last month. It was a jumpsuit which was my pasalubong from a cousin who works in Taiwan. I actually wore it last holiday (July 29th) when we went to the mall.

This August, I am very optimistic that I’ll be able to continue my success in this challenge. Something’s telling me I will be successful ’till the end of this shopping fast! 🙂

  1. Ugh, I love your jumpsuit! Super ganda! You go, girl! Ako naman, I barely bought anything last month. But on the day I received my salary for August (which was yesterday), I spent a part of the remaining money from my July salary to buy 2 bags of books! 😀

    1. Thanks sis! It’s always a wise decision to buy books as they’re good investments esp. now that you have a kid eager to learn new things. 🙂

  2. Good job Edel! Isn’t that nice you resist shopping temptations? And you’re absolutely right, don’t deprive yourself on things too much because we need to pamper ourselves once in a while as a treat. Way to go!

  3. wootwoot!!! tuloy tuloy na ma accomplish yan edel! i like your jumpsuit. naghahanap din ako ng ganyan, hindi ko nga langa alam kung bagay ba sakin kasi medyo di ako katangkaran, hehe!
