Weekend Story: Makati Trips with Family (Hole in the Wall and Landmark)

Last weekend was spent entirely in Manila. I have an explanation for this — I had to do some Christmas shopping! Plus, the hubby had to attend two Christmas parties (school and office) on Saturday. I even thought I wouldn’t be able to spend time with him on Saturday but fortunately, his schedule suddenly freed up by nighttime. We took advantage of the opportunity and went to Hole in the Wall with my SIL and my brother Danison.

Hole in the Wall is this new foodie destination housed inside Century City Mall on Kalayaan Avenue in Makati. It’s like a big food court, but the posh and cozy kind. It was really spacious we didn’t have a hard time finding a table despite the big crowd during our visit. I heard they’ve just opened recently and so there were only several restaurants serving the diners that night.

We chose Bad Bird for our dinner. It was an easy decision for us because their counter was the one with the longest queue there. It would turn out to be a great decision because we loved their umami fried chicken. Super tasty and not-so-thin/not-so-thick breading, crispy skin and tender and juicy meat. Sooo good! Priced was a bit on the expensive side (P330 for a two-piece chicken plate with two side dishes) but it was worth it.

We had a long Sunday. After hearing the 9:00 a.m. mass, the hubby and I along with Mame and my two sisters went to Landmark in Makati. We got there at 11am-ish and had lunch immediately at the food court. Then, we went straight to the department store to shop. We joined the throng of shoppers in rummaging through racks and racks of merchandise waiting to get sold. It was hard sticking to your budget in times like this. I must admit I went a little overboard. But me taking home 23 items for under P5,000? I think that’s a good deal already! I really love Landmark! 🙂

Before going home, I treated the hubby and my three shopping buddies to A Veneto. It’s been ages since we last ate there! We were happy to have eaten our old favorites again.

Traffic was surprisingly light on our way home. We still had time to scrutinize and try on the items we bought before calling it a night.

I’m just so glad I’m now done with Christmas shopping. And you? 🙂

May you choose happiness always,

    1. Oo, three years na magkakasunod na kami sa Landmark nagChristmas shopping. Minsan nakakapag-Divisoria din pero suko ako sa dami ng tao doon. Etong sa Landmark, medyo manageable pa. 🙂

  2. I have been reading a lot of raves about Hole in the Wall so I was taking a mental note while reading this post. Grabe this weekend. I went to SM Aura hoping that it wouldn’t be as crowded as the other malls. Dati kasi pwedeng mag-tumbling dun, pero last Sunday, Divisoria levelzzz! Kahit parking lot, traffic! =))

  3. We’re at Landmark naman last Saturday. Was supposed to dine sa Aveneto din but decided to try Dekada, which is a bad decision kasi bukod sa ang mahal na…ang tagal pa ng serving!!!! I love Landmark too. Ang saya no?

  4. this looks good. keeping this one in mind. I miss Manila so much, its like there’s a new place opening everyday and I can’t keep up even if I go home every few months LOL. Makes trying to diet extra hard ano?

    1. Yeah, right. The dining scene here in Manila continues to evolve and improve. I can’t keep up na nga with the number of restaurants opening left and right eh. True, super hirap magdiet!!! 🙂
