Weekend Story: Block Party and Palm Sunday Anticipated Mass in Alabang

When I got an invite to the Block Party (a weekend of art, food, and music at the Makiling Park of Ayala Alabang Village), I knew instantly our weekend will be relaxing and fun. It was a two-day event (March 28th and 29th) but we only went on the first day which was last Saturday. Since the hubby is currently enjoying his sem break from grad school, we drove to Bacoor on Friday night and went to the Block Party from our house the next day.

We got to the venue at past 12:00 p.m., just in time for lunch. It was a beautiful day but the sun was scorching hot. Good thing there were tables and chairs set up under the cool shades of trees. There were also mats with blankets and throw pillows scattered all over the place inviting people to lie down and relax. Cool music was also being played which added to the festive vibe in the park.

The arts and crafts booths are lined up orderly in one corner while the event sponsors (e.g. Globe, Real Living Magazine, etc.) had their individual spots.

There were food booths at the back part where people could grab a grub anytime. That’s where we headed first because the hubby was already starving. We just had sandwiches for breakfast, that’s why. Haha. As for me, my eyes were enjoying the sights that my tummy couldn’t complain just yet.

c

Upon seeing a just-vacated mat near the food booths, I pointed it to the hubby and we settled there immediately. Then we got something to eat. It was an instant picnic time for us!

For our lunch, the hubby had this rice + spicy boneless lechon combo from Boneless Bob while I got two yummy empanadas from El Chupacabara. Our dessert was Caramilk’s Belgian Dark ice cream. It’s my latest foodie find and it’s worth every calorie. It’s made from carabao’s milk and so it was super creamy! I thought the P295 price for a pint was reasonable.

yum!

While taking photos around the park, I saw one of my weaknesses — necklaces with character! I’m quite familiar with the brand Piesa (I’ve seen bloggers and people on IG wearing Piesa necklaces before!) and I was happy to finally own a piece from their collection. I just brought enough money for our food that day (I didn’t wanna get tempted to shop!) so even if it was the cheapest of the bunch at P250, I still couldn’t afford it. Good thing the hubby’s with me and told me to buy it using his money. Bigay na raw nya sa akin. Hindi na ako nagpakipot pa. Thanks again, Daddy!

Craft workshops were held one after another but we didn’t join any. WiFi was also available for those who wanted to go online. We just stayed in our mat and chilled out, going online every now and then. The hubby was even able to take a nap at one point. We didn’t plan on staying long but we ended up leaving at 5:30 p.m. Talk about enjoying the moment! Haha.

my turn

Seriously, we did have a great time just lazing around, eating, and people watching. What a perfect way to spend our Saturday!

Kudos to the organizers for putting on such an exciting, fun-filled event! A lot of people came, stayed, and left so I’d like to think it was successful. I hope there’d be more of this kind of event in the future!

Later that day, we heard the anticipated mass at St. Jerome Parish beside Alabang Town Center (ATC). We bought some palaspas outside the church and had it blessed by the priest during the blessing of the palms.

s
it’s now hanging on our door

The last thing I wanted to do that night was to cook dinner so we just ate at the food court of ATC before going home.

m
Ted’s La Paz Batchoy never fails to delight and warm our tummy before our main meal!

The hubby also got himself a new pair of sunglasses for use in driving because his old pair broke last week. I said he should get Sunnies because it has a good balance of price, style, and quality. A pair there costs only P399. Buti naniwala sa akin. Gusto pa bumili ng mas mahal eh!

n
yun oh!

Our Sunday was a laid back one. We had lots of rest and sleep. The air-con in our room was on full blast when we had siesta because it was very hot outside. Summer, kasalanan mo ang pagtaas ng kuryente namin sa buwang ito! Haha.

And that’s it. Another relaxing, fun, and memorable weekend!

Where were you last weekend, friends? Kwento naman! 🙂

May you choose happiness always,
