Weekend Story: 3S’s (Sweet, Simple, and Special)

Our last long weekend can be described in 3S’s: sweet, simple, and special. Mame and my sister Jodie joined the hubby and me in Bacoor. They were not without plans. Jodie, for instance, had asked me to accompany her in getting a formal suit. She plans to give her “dream job” a shot and I’m fully supporting her. Mame, on the other hand, just wanted to bond with her eldest child and her favorite son-in-law. Haha.

On Saturday, the hubby biked to Daang Hari while the three of us girls stayed late in bed. I prepared a simple lunch for us and we watched TV together. Then we had a siesta after. When we got up, we took a bath alternately and left the house for Evia Lifestyle Center in Daang Hari. Jodie stepped inside Uniqlo to check out their formal wear section but couldn’t find anything she liked. On our way out, we spotted St. Marc’s Cafe in one corner and we each bought a choco-cro. Boy, was it addicting!

yum!

From Evia, we drove straight to Alabang where we heard the mass at St. Jerome Emiliani & Sta. Susana Parish and went malling at Alabang Town Center (ATC). Jodie got herself a black skirt at Mango but didn’t find a blazer that fit her as even their smallest size still looked big on her (read: usual problem of petite and skinny girls). She would end up borrowing my little black Uniqlo blazer instead. Aba at nakatipid pa ang loka, no need to buy a blazer na!

For dinner, the hubby and I took our two companions to Wing Stop. We liked their wings during our first time there and so we were confident that they would like it also. And they did!

Mame was generous enough to treat us for dessert — Rita’s custard! I don’t know about you but I find it overhyped. It tasted just like a fresher/creamier/tastier version of Wendy’s frosty to me. I also think it’s PHP180 price for a large cup is expensive. But in fairness, its ATC branch has a huge following.

Our Sunday morning was spent at home just eating, chatting, and laughing. Of course, we got online and surfed the net to our heart’s content using the hubby’s dependable pocket wifi. I, for one, hopped from one site to another and discovered things like avid artist control where musical instruments and accessories are aplenty. Then we had more eating, chatting, and laughing. It’s always like that when you have the clowns (Mame and the hubby) around. We hit the road going to Manila by 4PM.

After unpacking our things, the hubby and I just relaxed a bit and hopped back into the car for Makati. It was a date, just the two of us. It was also one of the rare times I was able to convince him to go to Makati. He normally dreads driving there due to the heavy traffic. But it since it was a Sunday, traffic was light in the CBD. We specifically went to Glorietta where I bought yet another bag…

another bag to love

Remember the untouched bag budget? That was what I used for this purchase. This bag is actually my advanced birthday gift to myself. I’ve always wanted a Buslo ever since I saw it and learned of the local enterprise behind it (and the cause they’re championing). Design- and quality-wise, it’s fantastic. I love, love its perfect slouch. This hobo bag, which is an original design by style icon Amina Aranaz-Alunan [edit: for Rags2Riches], is a bit heavy on its own, given the solid woven fabric and the genuine leather strap and base, but nothing that my right shoulder can’t handle.

I have another birthday gift to myself in mind but I’m saving the buying for later (on my exact birthday, that is). Haha. Seriously, all I really have to do is declutter soon and make sure my stuff are just enough for my needs. Mindfulness, Edel!

The hubby treated me to dinner at Pancake House. Their 2 for PHP370 meals are so sulit!

The hubby and I were supposed to bike at Mall of Asia yesterday morning but I begged off at the last minute. My reason was puyat ako and it was true, hahaha. I also needed to go to work by 11AM. Goodbye, long weekend ang drama ko. But it was all good. My boss showed up in the office in the afternoon from her official trip abroad and immediately handed out her pasalubongs to us. I got this unique pouch from Laos featuring its traditional weaving pattern. Ang ganda!!!

Due to the full line up of activities that day, the start of our 6PM event got delayed and so it ended late as well. The highlight of the night for me was this photo and hand shake with the PNP Chief who was very charming in person.

My plan to go brisk walking around the neighborhood with the hubby didn’t push thru. When I got home, I found him reading his car magazine. I just freshened up a bit and then we hit the sack together.

How did your weekend go, friends? Kwento naman dyan! 🙂

May you choose happiness always,

  1. I bought Rags2Riches bags for my cousins in the US last Feb and they loved it, inexplain ko pa na the company helps an organization for women kaya kahit papano our purchase was made more meaningful 🙂 Our boss attended the ASEAN-BIS in Laos too, pero chocolate ang dala nya haha. Ganda nung pouch 🙂

  2. Ang ganda nga nung clutch from Laos!! 🙂 And I love your bag too. R2R bags are really nice. 🙂 Bet ko yang may extra money for the “wants”. Makapag alkansya na nga for that. 🙂

  3. My brother gave us a box of choco-cro a few months ago. :p

    1. Waaaah, challenge talaga sa EQ ang choco-cro! Gusto ko i-try yung banana-walnut flavor nila next time. Di lang cute, mabait pa, hehe. 🙂

  4. Alam mo, guapong-guapo ako kay Gen Bato. Lalo na’t naka-uniform. Never mind that I don’t agree with many of his policies or politics. As if naman may pakialam sya in my opinion of him. Hahahaha!

  5. Bet ko talaga yung mga bag mo! Haha. Is it from Rags2Riches?

Also, grabe lang yung P180 ice cream!

    1. Yes, it is! Thanks, Dani! 🙂

Hi PNP Chief! Di ko makalimutan yung 1 pic na nakita ko dati of him na ka-holding hands ang wife nya kahit nakapikit sya na parang nagpapahinga hehehe. Tough but sweet.
