The Cliffhouse, Tagaytay

I just learned about The Cliffhouse, Tagaytay thru a blog which I happened to come across while blog hopping one random weekday. The photos of the place that the blogger took were beautifully shot and somehow, it made me believe that the place was just as beautiful in real life.

Since the fiancé and I we’re going to spend this weekend in Tagaytay (at the beautiful and serene Las Ventanas to be exact), I asked him to have lunch at The Cliffhouse. We arrived here at past 11:00 a.m. this morning and immediately I took some snapshots for posterity’s sake. My first impression of the place? It was definitely lovelier in the flesh than in photos! It had a great view of the famous Taal Lake and housed a solitary hotel plus several restaurants such as Cafe Platito (where we had our lunch), Firelake Grill, Cafe Breton and Buon Giorno, among others.

Personalized Christmas Gifts

While checking out some online shops for potential Christmas gifts to family and friends, an idea popped out of my head. What if instead of giving them ready-made gifts this year, I give them something that’s made especially for them? Admit it or not, there’s something about personalized gifts that make our hearts melt. And since the occasion is as merry as the coming Christmas, then these kind of gifts will surely be much appreciated.

I have given personalized mugs and face towels before. I want something different for this year. I’m thinking of making some hand-made accessories especially for my girl friends. How about personalized holiday cards for my family? The text inside could be hand-written or not, so long as it has my heartwarming message and signature or anything that will add a personal touch to it.

My Wait for Christmas Bonus Starts Now

Catching a glimpse of my wallet this morning, thoughts of receiving Christmas bonuses from various sources flooded my mind. At work, we normally get our 13th month pay in November and the extra bonus in December, a few days before Christmas. I’m happy to know that this year, I’m not the only one receiving a bonus in our family. My brother D, who works as a teacher in a private Chinese school, is getting his share, too!

Have you started shopping for Christmas presents? Me, not yet. But I think I might join my brother in going to Divisoria soon to shop at the popular night market there. I miss shopping with him. Unlike other guys that dread shopping places, my brother enjoys shopping as much as I do. Shopping is actually a great bonding activity for us.

Dreaming of Tagaytay

The past days have been very toxic for me. I have been literally swamped with work and couldn’t do anything about it. I remember asking for some pampering the other day and look what landed on my hands this afternoon – a voucher from some groupon site for an overnight accommodation in Tagaytay courtesy of the fiancee!

Maybe he’s been feeling the same thing. That we badly need a weekend getaway to relax and rejuvenate our tired bodies. The Tagaytay voucher came just in time. Aside from being made of awesome, cheap vouchers are a life saver. From the original price of P4,600, the fiancee got ours for almost P1,900 only. Amazing.

A Shopping Ban before Christmas

It’s the first day of September and here in Manila, the start of the -ber months only means one thing – Christmas Season! You see, we have one of the longest (if not the longest) Christmas celebrations in the world, and proud of it. As early as now, I want to save up as much money as I can to prepare for another fun and meaningful Christmas with my family and loved ones. To make sure I would be able to do this, I have decided to impose something upon myself. I’ll be on a shopping ban until November 30. Yes, that’s right.

By shopping ban, I mean keeping myself from buying any material thing for myself (gadgets, clothes, accessories, and the likes) until the date I specified. The exception here is the little shopping (for pasalubongs) I am doing in my upcoming trip abroad. My determination and discipline will now be officially put to the test. This will literally translate to keeping myself away from the cash drawer of my fave shops (I always try to pay in cash, you know). For sure, it’s gonna be a tough challenge for me. So help me God.
