Weekend Story: Lotsa Time with Family and Friends

It’s not every weekend that I get to have plenty of time to spend with family and friends. Last weekend was that kind of weekend. I had lotsa time in my hands to meet with friends and spend quality time with the hubby and my family. My weekend turned out to be fun and filled with positive vibes. I loved it!

On Saturday, I met up with some of my blogger friends at Heaven and Eggs, Glorietta 4, Makati. It had been ages since I last saw them (though I always get updated on their latest endeavors through Facebook and Instagram!), primarily because I decided to “lie low” in attending blog events the past months due to heavy workload in the office. We had a delightful brunch of American and Filipino food while catching up on what has been happening in our lives.

Anilao Getaway

Last May 26th and 27th were epic. Two days of pure fun and relaxation. We had our office outing/team building at Vista Aplaya Resort, a pretty little beach resort in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas. Trivia (at least for me): Anilao is one of the barangays in the municipality of Mabini. It was just an overnight stay but we made the most of it by enjoying the beach. We ate delicious, home-cooked food and snorkeled to our hearts’ content (while our rich boss was diving in the deep).

We were lucky to have the place all to ourselves because we arrived there on a Monday and left the next day (both weekdays). I loved everything about it, from the accommodation and the Instagram-worthy infinity pool and gardens to the buffet meals served to us and the great service. We would have extended our stay except our budget was limited. Haha.

Dining Out with Family and Friends

If there’s one thing I’m good at, that would be eating. Food has always been my passion. I love it more than my husband. Haha. Just kidding. Actually, the hubby and I have one common denominator – food. We love to eat good food. We also love to try out new restaurants whenever we could afford it.

While we enjoy dining at home (with me cooking for the hubby all the time if it’s just the two of us), we are fond of dining out, too. We visit restaurants with family and friends. If it’s with the hubby’s family, it’s almost always a bonding activity. If it’s with my side of the family, it’s normally a post-shopping agenda. If the dining out is with friends, it’s either a group reunion, a birthday blow-out or a mini get-together.

Restful Weekend

For the hubby and I, every weekend is different. Sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes it’s fun. Sometimes it’s tiring, sometimes it’s restful. Sometimes it’s dull, sometimes it’s playful. Sometimes it’s a combination of any two or all.

One factor that affects how our weekends turn out is the people we get to spend them with. The activities we do during weekends are almost the same, but it’s the people we do these activities with that make them more special and memorable.

Office Team Building at Palm Beach Resort, San Juan, Batangas

After one postponement, our office’s team building activity/strategic planning workshop/summer outing has finally pushed through last May 6 & 7. It was held at Palm Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas. Since it fell on weekdays (Monday and Tuesday), our enjoyment was doubled. Having escaped work for two days straight was the best thing ever. Haha.

Palm Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas is a lovely place. It’s also more private and less crowded than the other resorts in the popular Laiya beach strip. (It must be the fact that it’s in a different barangay already and is tucked behind the mountains.)

Laptop Repair

When we attended the burial ceremonies for my deceased aunt in the province, I had the chance to update myself on the lives of my other cousins and I’m sure they had the same experience as mine. Until now, I am amazed by the transformations we’ve been through. I’m talking about the physical and economical changes in our lives.

One of my cousins, for instance, will soon continue her studies as a college freshman. We just got a text from her yesterday that she passed the entrance exams at STI. What good news! Now, all she needs are school supplies and one of those laptops for students (for better study habits!) and she’ll be good to go. Did I mention she’s gonna be a Jollibee scholar? Yes, that’s right. She’s been working for Jollibee as a service crew and they eventually learned that she wanted to finish her studies. Now they wanna help them in their own little way. Cool.
