Weekend Story: Happy Birthday, Happy Fiesta and Happy Trip to Our Lady of Manaoag

How was your long weekend, friends? Mine was simple, fun and happy. I had a restful Saturday because while the hubby was attending his classes in graduate school, I was stuck at home alternating between sleeping, eating, and reading books. When he got home in the afternoon, I just fed him lunch and then he joined me in procrastinating. Haha.

We spent the long weekend in Manila because my PILs requested so. They wanted the hubby to celebrate his birthday at their place because his birthday coincided with the Feast Day of St. Michael and the Archangels. It doesn’t happen every year; it’s just this year that the feast day fell on October 5th (which is the hubby’s birthday). And since we would be visiting the Shrine of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Manaoag, Pangasinan together with friends by Monday, we thought it was a good idea to just stay in Manila.

Weekend Story: Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road Trip (a.k.a. #PippoDay 2014)

The hubby and I, along with my mom and two sisters, went on a road trip yesterday. It was the 28th of September and we were remembering our little angel Pippo. Destinations were Tagaytay and Nasugbu. We left our Bacoor home at around 8:45am and reached Nasugbu two hours after. We were grateful for the nice weather (alternating between sunny and cool), the fun experience and our safe return back home.

In Nasugbu, we heard the morning mass (11:00am) at the Transfiguration Chapel housed inside Calereuga Retreat Center.

Weekend Story: Extended Stay and Cavite Dining Scene

Last weekend was a long one for the hubby and me. We spent a total of four days in our Bacoor home. We got there Saturday morning (the hubby’s classes were suspended) and left for Manila on Tuesday afternoon. We filed for a two-day leave from work using our overtime credits which, unfortunately for us, aren’t convertible to cash.

So what we did was we took a lot of rest at home. We also did some major cleaning (bathroom for me and the rest of the house for the hubby). Yes, that’s how division of labor works in our household. No judging. Haha. And we also worked on his last school report for this semester. Wow, time flies really fast. Before he knows it, another semester is looming already!

Weekend Story: PhilCare Card, Korean Lunch Buffet and General Cleaning

It was one of those weekends when we weren’t able to visit our Bacoor home and instead, got stuck in Manila to do stuff. Our Saturday was spent with friends while our Sunday was filled with household chores. Haha.

I learned about PhilCare through one of the blogs I read regularly. They offer a list of health services and have several clinics in Metro Manila. My Superf Nice, my good friend Carmela and I availed of their Women’s Health card at P670. (Even if we have our respective Ob-Gyne’s, we thought of trying out PhilCare for experience and to save money.) You see, the card covers three services (one-time use only): Ob-Gyne consultation, pap smear and breast or transvaginal ultrasound. If we were to pay for these services individually, it would set us back at least P2,000. Laking tipid, diba?

Weekend Story: MOA Date and Homebody Activities

Last weekend, the hubby and I spent Saturday night at Mall of Asia (MOA) for some couple time. We already had dinner at my in-laws’ place (we couldn’t resist my MIL’s chicken and pork adobo!) so we just had late night snacks there: DQ ice cream in our fave flavors, Jamaican patties, and cheesy corn kernels in a cup. Yummy!

When Sunday came, we practically stayed home. We went out for the usual trip to the wet market, but that was all. While I’m more of a homebody than the hubby, he also enjoys the warmth, joy and pleasures of being at home on occasions like this.

Weekend Story: Surprise Visit, Food Trip, and Lotsa Talking

Last weekend was terrific and extra fun. My mom and my cousin Ate Hazel joined the hubby and me for the weekend at our Bacoor home. We did a lot of eating and talking. We also paid a surprise visit to an uncle whom we hadn’t seen for a long time.

I think the hubby and I are having a great time welcoming guests to our humble abode. Financially speaking, it translates to additional expenses, but the happy memories we create with these wonderful people are definitely worth it. Not only do we get to strengthen our ties with our family and friends, but we also learn and experience new things with them that make us appreciate our married life better. It’s actually a win-win situation for us.
