Weekend Story: A Shopping Trip and A Birthday Party

Two things that marked the past weekend for the hubby and me: a shopping trip and a birthday party.

On Saturday, we went to Landmark Makati with my MIL and my SIL to look for ready-made long gowns. We are attending a wedding next month and the dress code says “formal.” Like black tie and long gown kind of formal. I am used to wearing short dresses during weddings so this is going to be a new experience for me. Nakakapagsuot naman ako ng long gown sa work pero laging black. Tingnan natin kung kayanin ng powers ko ang magsuot ng long gown na hindi black bilang kasal ito. Haha.

Weekend Story: Eating and Biking Galore

Last weekend was filled with eating and biking, hence, the title. It started on Friday night when the hubby and I, along with my in-laws, went to Blue Bay Walk on Macapagal Blvd. My PILs suddenly decided to dine out to remember the 6th death anniversary of the hubby’s aunt (we miss you, Mamala!) in advance.

Weekend Story: Family Road Trip + Budget Shopping Finds

Last weekend was spent bonding with family. Mame and my two sisters joined the hubby and I for the weekend. We drove to Bacoor on Saturday night after attending the 6PM anticipated mass at St. Michael the Archangel Shrine. We got caught in heavy traffic along Macapagal Blvd. We were starving when we got to Bacoor so we stopped by Ume-ya, our fave Japanese resto for a late dinner.

On Sunday, we woke up early to get ready for our family road trip to Sta. Rosa City in Laguna. My sister Jodie wanted to check out the bustling Paseo de Sta. Rosa and Nuvali commercial centers there. It was actually her first time to visit these places.

Weekend Story: Midnight Mercato + Two House Guests + Bonding at Home

With the hubby still enjoying his sem break at graduate school, we now get to go home in Bacoor on Friday nights. Like last weekend, for instance. But instead of just the two us going home, we had two guests whom we fetched from Market, Market in Taguig City.

Our Bohol-based friend Jan2x (one of the family friends we saw during our short vacation in Bohol last month) and his girl student Damecess were here in Manila for the National Schools Press Conference 2015 which was held in that city last week. We found out that she placed 6th in the Photo Journalism – English category and so we decided to celebrate it by treating them to a late dinner at Midnight Mercato.

Weekend Story: Stella Wood Fired Bistro, Midnight Mercato, Willow Jewelry, and Two Lady House Guests

We were supposed to have three lady house guests last weekend but only two (Ivy and Rona) showed up. The other one (Edlyn) got stuck with parental duties to two daughters who are big fans of One Direction. (If you know about the big concert at Mall of Asia complex last Saturday night, then you’d know what I mean by that.) Family should always come first and we fully understand that.

Before we went home in Bacoor, the hubby and I, along with Ivy whom we picked up from a 7-Eleven near her house, had dinner at Stella Wood Fired Bistro in BGC. It was a fantastic dinner of whole roasted chicken, Spanish and chorizo rice, some roasted pumpkin, and special lasagna.

Weekend Story: Surprise Visit, Food Trip, and Lotsa Talking

Last weekend was terrific and extra fun. My mom and my cousin Ate Hazel joined the hubby and me for the weekend at our Bacoor home. We did a lot of eating and talking. We also paid a surprise visit to an uncle whom we hadn’t seen for a long time.

I think the hubby and I are having a great time welcoming guests to our humble abode. Financially speaking, it translates to additional expenses, but the happy memories we create with these wonderful people are definitely worth it. Not only do we get to strengthen our ties with our family and friends, but we also learn and experience new things with them that make us appreciate our married life better. It’s actually a win-win situation for us.
