Home and Design Blogs

Aside from lifestyle and food blogs, reading home and design blogs never fails to make me feel good. Actually, they inspire me. Inspiration, that’s the operative word. Looking at newly made-over rooms, effortlessly beautiful spaces, pieces of furniture that were modified to create new looks for the home, DIY projects, arts and crafts, and other design inspirations gives me a high (the good kind, of course!). These blogs make me want to do exactly what they’re doing to their homes to my own home. If only my space is as lovely as theirs, or I’m as rich or as creative as they are.

But I’m not. I will have to save up money first before venturing in a home improvement project. With our finances right now, I can’t just buy new items to add to our house. You know what I just do? I make a list of the things I wanna copy or adapt from so that when the time comes that I already have the resources to use in my projects (DIY or otherwise), I can easily plan and make my move. Isn’t that smart? Haha.

Our Green Room

The master’s bedroom in our Bacoor home is green-themed. We didn’t really plan for it. It just so happened that one thing led to another. Before we knew it, we already had a green-themed room. Haha.

Nevertheless, we love how our room looks now. Green is easy on the eyes. It’s also the color of the environment, of Mother Nature. I just love green, period. 🙂

Home Thoughts

Right now, I’m thinking about our humble home in Cavite. It’s been almost two years since we settled there. It’s been my parent’s permanent abode and me and my sibling’s haven during the weekends. Gradually, we were able to improve our house and now it looks better than ever. Thank God for the financial blessings that allowed us to finance some very crucial home improvement projects!

I can still remember the time we install tile flooring in our house. A good friend from the US helped me with this and I won’t forget his kindness and generosity for that. As time went by, we were able to acquire new appliances that made our life easier and more comfortable. Then, one by one, we were able to secure our extension lot which now serves as our kitchen and lavatory, get grills and screens for our doors and windows and buy more household items that added color and depth to our home.

Greek Blue

I have always been fascinated with the color greek blue. It looks fresh, bright, vintage, earthy and natural. The white and greek blue theme is commonly seen in many Greek communities, particularly in Santorini. Some people even prefer saying Santorini blue instead of greek blue.

My fascination with greek blue has brought me to painting our kitchen cabinets with this exact, same color. Our kitchen cabinets are still being made. We’re still waiting for the tiles on our sink area to dry up. This is where the cabinets will be hung. I’m so excited to see the end result. Greek blue cabinets, marble-like peach tiles and white walls sound like the perfect color theme to me! At least, for our humble kitchen.
