Weekend Story: House Guest, Red Velvet Cake, Thai Resto and Unexpected New Stuff

We had a house guest last weekend. It was my mareng Josh. We’ve been friends for a few years and share the distinction of being the godmother to the daughter of one of my bestfriends. It was actually that bestfriend of mine who introduced us to each other. Josh and I always chat on FB and one time while talking about home improvement projects, I decided to invite her for an overnight stay at our Bacoor home.

As expected from two talkative people, we did a lot of chatting. I’m really shy in person but once I get along with someone, I usually never run out of stories to tell. Haha. Aside from chatting (and laughing of course!), we ate a lot and took advantage of the hubby’s LTE pocket Wi-Fi. I was also in the mood to bake then so I made her a red velvet cake which we had for merienda.

My Affinity for Asian Cuisines

I just came from a dinner with friends at Crustasia located inside Powerplant Mall in Rockwell, Makati. It was a heavy dinner and I got too full after. Perhaps, it’s the reason why I’m still awake at this odd hour. Our host ordered a lot of food and we just couldn’t stop eating because everything tasted good. The restaurant, by the way, specializes in three Asian cuisines: Indonesian, Thai, and Chinese.

My affinity for Asian cuisines started fairly recently. I just found out one day that there are some Asian dishes that I enjoy eating, crave for regularly and wanna learn to cook at home. These dishes include Bibimbap, Katsudon, Pad Thai, Siomai, Chicken Curry, Dumplings, Tom Yum Soup, California Maki, Wanton Noodle Soup, Hainanese Chicken Rice, and Yang Chow Fried Rice, among others. What I love about Asian cuisines are its diversity, great tastes, familiar flavors, uniqueness, and innovativeness. It’s funny but whenever the fiancee and I would dine out, I’d always ask him to eat at an Asian-themed restaurant serving some or most of these food.

Craving for Thai Food

My efforts to lose weight have been futile the past days. Food trips have been aplenty and I couldn’t do anything about it. My food cravings have also been in active mode and the amount of discipline left in me isn’t enough to keep this in control. Actually, right now, I’m craving for Thai food. I want to have Tom Yum soup, Catfish salad and my favorite Pad Thai!

Whenever I’m having food cravings, I really make a way to grant my tummy’s request. It’s ironic and funny at the same time how I have always wanted to lose weight and yet, I always have food cravings that I go out of my way to fulfill. I think I have already gained 10 pounds in the last few months just because I keep on forgetting to watch what I eat. And I keep on having those food cravings even in the middle of the night.
