Cooking for Two

Now that I’m married, cooking has become more of a duty than a chore or a leisure-time activity for me. I now cook on a regular basis to make sure the hubby and I don’t starve. Haha.

When I was still single, I got used to cooking for a family of six albeit only during weekends and whenever mom was sick. Now that I have only a husband to feed, I only cook for two. It’s a new thing for me but I think I’m adjusting well. I’m also glad that it requires lesser work than when I was cooking for my family.

Company Outing at Matabungkay Beach Hotel

Yesterday was a fun-filled day for us as we had our summer outing at Matabungkay Beach Hotel in Lian, Batangas. I was with my fellow workers (and our respective families) from the restaurant where I work part-time.

Matabungkay looks old and rustic but is good enough for a day tour. That’s what I realized after our visit. Yes, we only had a day tour instead of the planned overnight stay because we were running on a limited budget. But still, nothing could stop us from spending the holiday at the beach!

Company Outing

I just realized tomorrow’s a legal holiday here in the Philippines, it being Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor). I just also realized that tomorrow’s our scheduled company outing over at my part-time job. I thought it’s on Wednesday; I was so wrong. Haha.

Speaking of company outing, this is gonna be my first summer adventure this year. I initially thought the one at work would happen first (the one I arranged for) but for some reason, it got moved to a later date. Hay, life is really full of surprises.

Meatless Meals Last Holy Week

While I didn’t fast during the Holy Week unlike our other Christian brothers, I made an effort to refrain from drinking alcohol and eating meat. And so did the hubby. Keeping ourselves away from alcohol was easy because we’re not really into drinking, in the first place. Keeping away from meat was another thing because we are self-confessed carnivores. It was a good thing we fully understood the significance of the atonement of Jesus. Thus, we had meatless meals on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Visita Iglesia 2013

I’m so glad we pushed thru our plan to visit Cavite-based churches for our Visita Iglesia this year. We checked out a total of seven churches located in five different places: Bacoor, Imus, DasmariƱas, Silang and Tagaytay. Aside from the heavy traffic we encountered on our way to Tagaytay Rotonda and on our way home from Tagaytay, everything turned out fine.

After our fourth church, we had a late, meatless lunch at a Chowking store in Tagaytay. We also bought some fresh pineapples and other goodies from the roadside stalls. It was a long day for us but definitely very meaningful and fun. By the way, I was with the hubby and his family. My entire family was in Manila having their own Holy Week celebration. But the hubby and I headed back to Manila earlier than planned. I was able to meet with my family on Black Saturday and we heard mass together on Easter Sunday.
