I Need a Haircut!

When I took a bath this morning, I suddenly noticed that my hair has grown so long I was already having a hard time shampooing it. I don’t know if it’s just my condition (preggy, remember?) or I’m getting bored with my hair.

Is it safe to get a haircut when pregnant? I mean, is there some superstitious belief out there that pertains to it? Sorry, I’m just being careful here not to hurt the elderly people’s feelings.

A Crab Feast

Last Friday night, I had the pleasure of joining a group of food bloggers in a crab feast. Our gracious host, The Red Crab Alimango House – Lucky Chinatown Branch, was more than happy to send us to crab heaven by serving us with not just one nor two but a total of 24 crab dishes for dinner!

It was raining hard outside but that didn’t stop our tummies from having a party complete with unlimited rice, free-flowing drinks and contemporary music played through surround speakers. Yes, seriously. Add to that the good conversations and even better company and we all went home super satisfied.

The Perfect Dentures

A fortnight ago, my mom’s dentures got broken. It was the kind of “broken” that could no longer be fixed. I didn’t have a choice but to get her a new one. It was a good thing I had the money to pay for it. And so, she immediately asked her friend to accompany her to the dentist. After a day of waiting, her dentures arrived and I could tell by her facial expressions she was ecstatic to have her teeth back.

My mom’s new dentures were reasonably priced. It was actually way cheaper than her old set. And boy, does it look good on her. Perfect fit, I must say. I don’t know if it’s the natural sparkle of the porcelain teeth or the nice shape of the teeth that makes the dentures attractive. All I know is that, it makes my mom look younger than her real age. Whenever she smiles, her new dentures smiles with her, if you know what I mean. Sometimes I wish I had dentures so I could achieve the same look. Haha.

Gestational Diabetes

When I got pregnant, I had very little knowledge about the risks and dangers of pregnancy. All I knew was that I was going to be okay as long as I took my vitamins and visited my OB. But it seems there is more to pregnancy than meets the eye. Every week, new developments happen to the baby and new physical and psychological changes are experienced by the mother.

One of my fears in this pregnancy is getting gestational diabetes. Basically, this is diabetes acquired by non-diabetic pregnant woman only during her pregnancy, especially during the third trimester when a dramatic weight gain is inevitable. On my last pre-natal check-up, I was advised by my OB to take a sort of glucose test to find out if I have gestational diabetes. It was not that she thought I had it, it was more of a precautionary measure.

A New Cable Subscription

With the arrival of their new TV, my brother’s next plan is to get a cable subscription. He already has a choice in mind — Destiny Cable. It’s the same cable that the hubby’s family here in Manila has at their home. It charges P500 a month, quite affordable methinks.

As for the installation fees, I think my brother has to shell out P1,500 but that would already cover the first three months of usage. Good deal, isn’t it? It’s like enjoying a buy 1 take 1 promo or finding discount permanent magnets online. But I digress.
