Weekend Story: Food Trips + Unli Movies

Last long weekend was relaxing. I think it had to do with the weather, our house guests (Mame, Daddy, and my sister Jodie), and the things we did. Like going on food trips in BF Homes, ParaƱaque and in Alabang. Like watching movies on Netflix (thanks to its 1-month free trial, haha). Like spending time with my family, just talking to and laughing with them. Like cuddling with the hubby. Like cooking for my loved ones and washing the dishes. Like listening to the sound of the pouring rain outside. Like doing nothing and just feeling the moment. Overall, it was a long weekend well spent. And as early as now, I’m already looking forward to the next one!

Weekend Story: TAP Event + Slow Sunday in Bacoor

Last weekend flew by fast. On Saturday, I accompanied the hubby in attending his car club’s 6th anniversary grand eye ball held at Googel restaurant in Mandaluyong City. There we met more than 600 members (most of them with +1’s, too) of Team Accent Philippines (TAP). The event was fun and came complete with production numbers and raffle draws. I think we reached Bacoor just before midnight. Our Sunday started late. We skipped going to church this time and just stayed home to rest until it was time to go back to Manila at night. Oh, I also did some workout in the morning pala because I felt I have gotten so big already.*sigh*

Weekend Story: More Bonding Time with My In-Laws

Last weekend was spent with my in-laws in Bacoor. We arrived there on Saturday afternoon and stayed until Sunday afternoon also. On our way to Bacoor, we stopped at S&R to have a late lunch and buy some supplies. We heard mass on Sunday morning. During the rest of the weekend, we were just lazing around, marathoning movies and TV series, eating a balance mix of junk food and home-cooked meals prepared by my MIL, and getting lots of sleep. I love slow weekends!

Weekend Story: Mame’s Birthday + PILs’ Wedding Anniversary

Last weekend was highlighted by some small accomplishments and big milestones. The hubby and I drove home in Bacoor on Friday night. Our Saturday was easy breezy. As promised, the delivery guys arrived in our house at around noon with our new ref (first ref we bought since we got married!). By nighttime, we went to the supermarket to buy supplies so we had something to put inside our new appliance. It was kinda funny because we were both thrilled as if it was our first time to go grocery shopping. Haha.

Our Sunday morning was spent hearing mass and our afternoon, watching movies from the hubby’s recently-acquired gadget called Mi box (where you get to have unlimited access to movies, TV series, docus, videos, and a lot more provided you have good internet access). We were back in Manila on Sunday night to have dinner with our family at Cabalen SM Manila. It was Mame’s birthday on that day and it’s my PILs wedding anniversary today so we decided to do a double celebration.

Weekend Story: To Things That Matter

Last weekend was spent with my in-laws in Bacoor. The hubby and I, along with my PILs, drove there on Friday night and my SIL followed the next day. We went out on Saturday to go to the mall and purchase a new ref because the old one we were using, which we borrowed only from my PILs, has decided to retire after 20+ years. (The new appliance will be delivered to our house this coming Saturday.) On Sunday, we went out again to go to the church in the morning and drove back to Manila in the afternoon. We dropped by SM Manila before going home because my PILs needed to buy some supplies.

I know this sounds cliche, but among the many things that matter, family really comes on top. For me, it’s always a joy to be with them physically so I can imagine the sadness and sacrifice of those who need to be away from their families for a long time due to economic reasons. I wish for the day when all families are living simple but happy lives together. Not necessarily together all the time, but you know, making an effort to spend more time to be together despite the busyness and complexity of the life we live in this digital world.

Lessons on Stock Market Investing, Vol. V

One year after my last post in this series, I’m writing again to celebrate another milestone in my financial life — my third anniversary as a direct stock market investor via COL Financial!

So far, things have been doing great. The market is bullish once again after several months of being bearish. During those gloomy months, I intentionally didn’t check on my port. The few times I did, I just bought more stocks so I could average down those that were in the red at the time, SSI included. And what do you know? SSI finally recovered last month. It went as high as PHP4.33 per share against my average price of PHP3.88. Thinking that the trend would die down soon, I sold my SSI shares immediately when it got to 4.07, which gave me a gain of around 4.8%. Now, why did I not wait for it go higher? I have to admit I got emotional. It’s been more than a year since I had SSI on the red, with losses reaching as high as 43% at one point. Having seen it turning to green recently was an overwhelming feeling. I just felt I needed to sell it right away for fear that its price would go down again and I would have to wait for a long time before it could recover. At least I still made money from it. The decision also prevented me from selling at a loss when I felt like it.
