Busy Week

It’s Friday already but I’m still feeling very productive at work. You see, we had events left and right. Everyone in the office was busy. But surprisingly, we didn’t feel tired at all. We were energetic and happy despite all the pressure and the deadlines. Just what a positive attitude could do to a person!

Anyway, I’m really glad the work week ends today. It only means I’m having another great weekend. Hopefully, I could finish reading the book I’ve been reading for so long. And cook this dish that has been in my mind since last year. And clean up my closet. And do a lot more things.

New Job and First Day Stress

Just to be clear, it’s not me who’s just landed a new job but my sister. Actually, today is her first day at work. I dunno with you, but every time my siblings take on a new adventure (be it anything), I’m the one who feels the stress or anxiety or pressure or excitement or whatever feeling you could associate with it. I feel as if I were the mother. It must be because, as the eldest child, I treat my siblings as my own children.

You see, my sister lost her job (she used to work as a retail assistant for Globe) a month or so ago. One morning after that misfortune, another misfortune happened. She accidentally hit her head in the restroom and got a big bump in her forehead which prevented her from looking for a new job for weeks. When she was finally able to apply for a job, she fortunately got one fast. And I couldn’t stop thanking God for the blessing.

Office Team Building at Palm Beach Resort, San Juan, Batangas

After one postponement, our office’s team building activity/strategic planning workshop/summer outing has finally pushed through last May 6 & 7. It was held at Palm Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas. Since it fell on weekdays (Monday and Tuesday), our enjoyment was doubled. Having escaped work for two days straight was the best thing ever. Haha.

Palm Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas is a lovely place. It’s also more private and less crowded than the other resorts in the popular Laiya beach strip. (It must be the fact that it’s in a different barangay already and is tucked behind the mountains.)

Another Work Week Ends

Thank God it’s Friday! As cliché as it sounds, I really like it when it’s Friday already. It means the work week ends at 5:00 pm (6:00 pm in my case!), the weekend is just several hours away, and a new adventure awaits me. The adventure could be a relaxing stay at home, a tiring but enjoyable mall trip or an impromptu road trip. Actually, it can be anything that creates happy memories and spells f-u-n.

On a different note, today is a special day in our office as it celebrates its founding anniversary. I heard there will be free packed lunch for everyone and a mass will be held this afternoon. Cool. This doesn’t happen every day so I better take advantage of it. Haha.

Summer Outing

It’s that time of the year again to hit the beach and bask in the glory of the sun. I’m talking about summer outings, my friends. Our office is not one to get left behind when it comes to summer outings especially now that we are allowed to have an all-expense-paid team building activity yearly.

But don’t get me wrong, the “all-expense-paid” part is quite an exaggeration. It’s not the “sky is the limit” kind. We’re never allowed to splurge because everything falls on a strict budget. But of course, we can still spend our own money if we like. Somehow, we’re still in control so we can have fun if we want to. And that’s what I like about it.

A Job Dilemma

If you’re no longer happy with your job, would you find a new one? It’s a tough question. More so if you’ve been used to doing the work you do, the compensation package and the other perks that go with it. It’s a sad fact that it’s hard to get a job these days. If you’re stuck in a job that no longer brings out the best in you, inspires you or gives you a sense of fulfillment, would you decide to give it up and look for another one?

There are many reasons why people become unhappy with their jobs. It could be the harsh working conditions, the bosses, the people you work with or the complexity of the job itself. But there are also an equal number of reasons why people have to hold on to their jobs. Arriving at a decision, therefore, is equally hard and requires an intensive assessment of the pro’s and con’s.
