Top Three Things I Pray For Everyday

I’m not really a prayerful or religious person but I say a prayer whenever and wherever I want. That’s how I communicate and build a relationship with my God. Not for anything, but I just feel like sharing the top three things I pray for daily. Here they are in no particular order:

1. Safety and Protection. Danger is everywhere. You can never tell when you’ll get into trouble or worse, your life or those of the people you love endangered. I always pray for safety and protection for myself, my husband and our families wherever we are and whatever we do.

Prayerful

I do pray but I can’t say I’m a prayerful person. I think the hubby is, but that’s a story for another post. Now, let me tell you a secret. There are nights when I’m not able to finish praying because sleep gets the better of me. I find out when I wake up the next morning. Ssshhh.

To compensate for that shameless deed, I say a little pray whenever I can and wherever I am. I noticed that aside from churches and bedrooms, places where people could get some privacy are very conducive for praying. I’m sure you know where those places are.

Lenten Season

The Lenten Season is fast-approaching. And I so look forward to the long holidays it brings. I’m not a very religious person but I always see Lent as a time to slow down, meditate and connect with God. I also think that this is the perfect opportunity to reflect on my life and how I could make it more meaningful not only for myself but for the people around me.

This Holy Week, I plan to relax and do uncomplicated things. I want to get as much rest as I could get. I want to spend as much time as I could with my family. I also want the same for my husband. That’s why we have decided to spend time equally between his family and mine. Fair deal, ayt?

Praying for Good Weather

My friends and I will be going out-of-country this weekend. As early as last year, I’ve started praying for a good weather. A canceled flight is the last thing we’d want to experience in this trip. Just thinking about the possibility makes me wanna cry already.

Two weeks ago, when typhoon Pedring (international name Nesat) battered the Philippines with heavy rainfall and gusty winds, the damages it brought to our people still linger. Last weekend during out trip to the province, we passed by towns who were still submerged in flood waters. What a miserable sight it was! I became sad for a while and at one point, I even thought about the use of an industrial rubber hose to suction flood waters and discharge it back to the sea. Shallow idea, I know. My point is, these towns and the people living in them, need help and that help should arrive soon, and in big packages.

Patience is a Virtue

Just because it hasn’t come yet doesn’t mean you have to lose hope and give up on your dream. This is what I have been constantly telling myself the past few days. I’ve been waiting for something and right now I find ‘waiting’ a bit unbearable already. My family and friends say I should never surrender. A new friend tells me exactly the same thing. She’s been an inspiration and an encouraging force to me since Day 1.

It’s been a month since that fateful day. I was only armed with a pinch of confidence and an ounce of dogged determination. I was only strengthened by good intentions and a pure heart. In the beginning, I was a little nervous but eventually I took control of things. Or so I thought.
