Ever since I got pregnant, I’ve been keeping myself away from caffeine in all its shapes and forms. That means I no longer drink coffee, tea and Coke. I no longer munch on my fave chocolates, either. Prior to my pregnancy, I have started to appreciate dark chocolates pa naman because of its nutritional benefits. Sigh.
According to my research, caffeine is not totally safe for pregnant women and that its intake should be limited, if not stopped. Caffeine is a stimulant and when regularly taken during pregnancy, may result to miscarriage, stillbirth and low birth weight. I chose to be on the safe side. It’s a good thing that my body is responding well as I don’t crave for it at all.
So yeah, this should serve as a reminder to my well-meaning friends that they need not have dark chocolate gifts delivered to me on my birthday or brought on my planned baby shower this year. BUT (and that’s a big but right there!), they may do so right after I have given birth. 🙂
