Last Day of the Year

Today, being the last day of the year, is definitely busy and fun. I can relate to a lot of people, particularly here in Manila, who are having a good time today. There may be lots of preparations, collaborations and reflections but it’s gonna be all worth it because later when midnight strikes, a brand new year arrives.

The hubby’s family is joining us for a simple New Year celebration here at home. I woke up early today because I had a lot of cooking to do. I wonder what I am doing here in front of the PC when in fact I’m only half-way done with my Media Noche menu. Haha. Anyway, I just wanna take a little break before finishing everything off.

The Road to Healing

Time. Acceptance. Understanding. Faith. All of these things work together to pave the road to healing for the hubby and me. It’s been three months since we lost our first baby and yet whenever I think of it, it still feels like it just happened yesterday. Oh, sad memories. But I digress.

I’m happy to report that we’re recovering well. We chose to believe everything happens for a reason, that’s it’s not our time yet. We won’t lose hope, for sure. We will continue to dream and work it out. Trying to conceive won’t happen until after at least six months to a year (as advised by my Ob-Gyn), though. But as early as now, I’m already preparing my mind, heart and body for my next pregnancy. I know God will take care of the other and more important preparations.

No Handy Man

The hubby is no handy man. He doesn’t know how to fix a leaking faucet, repair a broken chair, re-paint a room and the likes. I think he won’t be a handy man in the coming years. Or perhaps not in this lifetime. Haha. But I love him still.

I can rely on the hubby when it comes to electronic gadgets and some household chores but not when it comes to “fix-up tasks” at home. But the things he can’t do, his father definitely can. (I wonder why he didn’t inherit his father’s skills!) Ooops, speaking of my FIL, I think the maintenance tools and supplies at www.reidsupply.com are a great gift for his birthday next year.

How I Lose Weight

Losing weight is a choice, getting fat is optional. That has been my mantra when it comes to managing my weight. Recently, I have come to realize that getting to your ideal weight is a lifetime process. I gain weight and I lose it and the cycle goes on and on.

There is no such thing as the perfect diet or exercise plan. It’s our lifestyle and eating habits that determine how small or big we would be. How I lose weight is no secret. I just decrease my calorie intake and increase my physical activity. I don’t deprive myself of any food (though there was a time I gave up on pork and soda!), I just try to eat everything in moderation.

Happy Momma

My mom laughs a lot. She has a cheerful disposition. She also has a great sense of humor and she doesn’t even know that. She’s like the clown in our family. There’s no dull moment with her around. I think my mom really suits my dad because he’s a very quiet man.

My mom is a happy woman but she can be emotional at times. At one point in her life, she was a crying lady. It was when she cried like a waterfall wall when her sister died and she didn’t have money to fly to the province to attend her burial service. I was still a kid then and didn’t understand a thing. I just saw her crying and instinctively, I cried with her. Haha.

Crisp Peso Bills

I had some money changed to new and crisp Philippine peso bills (P20’s and P100s) through my SIL who works in a bank. Crisp peso bills are a must during Christmas here in Manila. They are a good alternative to the usual presents given and received during Christmas.

I used to collect crisp peso bills as a kid. I actually preferred receiving them over material gifts given to me by my generous godparents. Now that I’m an adult, I still keep some of them and find it hard to spend them because they smell good, feel nice in the hand and look good inside my wallet.
