A Job, Finally!

Remember my younger sister who’s looking for a job? She’s finally gotten one. It’s not a glamorous job that pays well, but it’s decent enough for a starter like her. We advised her to accept the job offer to gain work experience before looking for a more financially-rewarding job and she listened to us.

Now that I have two siblings working already, I guess the “breadwinner” title (which led to the creation of this blog) doesn’t suit me anymore. But I’m just so happy that finally, my siblings can now stand on their own feet and are now capable of helping provide for the needs of our family, particularly in sending our bunso (youngest sibling) to school. She’s currently a 3rd year college student and hopefully, two years from now, she’ll be just like us, working and earning a living.

Family Pets

People have their own preference when it comes to pets that they take care at home. When I was a child, I remember we had this family pet (she was a girl puppy named Snoopy) but she died only after a few days. We never got the chance to raise a new pet after that.

The hubby’s family has had several dogs at home already. What they do is they raise one after another, one at a time. If I remember correctly, they’ve taken care of four female half-breed dogs (Sparski, Sabina, Natasha and Ondoy) since the time the hubby and I became lovers. Their current family pet is Ondoy (they got her during the onset of the destructive typhoon, hence, the name); the three others have long been in dog heaven.

Fun Weekend in the Suburb

Last weekend was fun. My mom, along with my two younger sisters, joined us in our Bacoor home. We spent the weekend doing the usual daily activities but in a fresher and more relaxed environment of the suburb. This is the life.

We cooked, ate, watched cable TV, surfed the net, played NBA games on PS3, walked around the village, and chatted about almost anything under the sun, from grocery shopping and wonder bras to child rearing and steel buildings canada. I missed my mom and two sisters so much, I was glad I had the time to bond with them again since the wedding.

3rd Month

Our 3rd month together as husband and wife falls on Father’s Day. Now that we’re expecting, I think it’s just proper to greet my husband a Happy Father’s Day. I did just that when I woke up this morning. Haha.

So far, our married life has been really great and blessed. No big problems, whatsoever. And we’re thankful because God continues to guide our marriage. It’s too early to tell what will happen to us one, five or ten years from now, but we’re very optimistic about our future. Especially now that we’re looking forward to the arrival of our first child.

Happy Father’s Day

My dad, now 56 years old, is already retired from work. He didn’t really go on retirement, it just happened that he lost his job early. When he tried to find a new job at a not so young age, opportunities eluded him. We didn’t blame him, though. We knew he did his best but luck wasn’t on his side. When I, as the eldest child, became the breadwinner of our six-member family, I embraced the role tight and did my best to fulfill my new responsibilities.

Today, when the world is paying homage to fathers because of their contribution in strengthening the foundations of their respective families, I have my father to honor. I know my dad did well in raising us, his children. He’s also been a good husband and my mom can attest to that. I believe he deserves all the accolades so this post is my way of thanking him for all his sacrifices for our family. Even if I had all the best coupon codes online to be used on a Father’s Day present for him, I know that my simple and kind-hearted dad would prefer my warmest hugs and sincerest appreciation over any material things in this world.

Mirror Thoughts

How to make a room look bigger than it really is? Use mirrors! That’s what the hubby and I plan to add to our living room to create an illusion of space. The last time we checked, a decorative mirror can cost anywhere from P5,000 to P10,000 (ouch, so pricey!), depending on the size and the design we want. We’ll see.

Speaking of mirrors, there’s a different mirror that the hubby seems to want to get for our car. Just the other day, I saw him sneakily browsing this site that had a vast chrome mirror covers selection. I’m betting he’s gonna tell me all about it very soon. Haha.
