I just found out that a friend has to undergo surgery because of a myoma or fibroid that grew in her uterus. Hearing news like this scares the hell out of me. I used to be afraid of doctors and going to hospitals but I have overcome the fear over time. But still, I can’t help but be paranoid about my own health when I hear other people sharing something negative about their health.
I am particularly concerned with my reproductive health. When I landed my first job, I started scheduling a trip to the OB-Gyne for my annual check-up. This includes breast exam, pap smear and vaginal ultrasound to identify any growths or abnormalities in my reproductive system. So far, the only thing they have spotted inside my uterus was a growing fetus and that surely made me very happy (yes, despite the saddening outcome in the end).
I know I’m not the only one who believes that the gift of good health is very important. It’s one of the best things you can ever have or give to your loved ones. This year, I will work harder to live a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy and having a more regular physical activity. This also means that my grocery shopping habits will have to change. Less junk food and sweets and more fruits and veggies. While a healthy lifestyle is more expensive to maintain than a bad one, at least my money goes directly to my health and not just to some unnecessary stuff.
Enough said.
Now, excuse me as I look up eisenhower dollar online for a friend’s coin collection. I’m good at returning favors, you know, and this one is a fine example of that. Haha. 🙂
