Happiness is Everywhere

When you’ve experienced being me, or at least get to experience the tragedies I have experienced in the past (not that they were too many), you’ll find it hard to be happy all the time. You see, I still get sad every time I think about my previous loss but I know I can’t be sad forever.

I know I just need to find reasons to be thankful and happy. I’m glad I always find a lot. I know I’m still very blessed. I know that every day, God gives me enough reasons to live my life happily and without regrets.

A Delicious Weekend

Last weekend was all about creativity, braveness, and freedom. Hmmm, I’m actually talking about my work at the kitchen as homemaker. The hubby and I just stayed home the entire weekend and didn’t go out, except for when we heard the mass on Sunday morning and did some walking on Sunday night. Since we didn’t have any trip to the supermarket, I had to make do with what was in our pantry. And I think I did pretty well.

On Saturday afternoon, I had some free time and decided to do some baking. I made some pizza and bread from scratch. I enjoyed baking so much that on Sunday morning, I also baked a chocolate cake and paired it with some fresh juice. Of course, we also had the usual rice meals which the hubby can’t live without. The hubby and I didn’t notice we were intentionally stuck in the house for two straight days because we were eating delicious food non-stop. Haha.

First Event for 2014

At work, our first event for 2014 has just finished. It was attended by diplomats, politicians, businessmen, private citizens and some members of the media. This simple ceremony is held twice a year, January and June. For the one in January, it’s to welcome the new year. For the one in June, it’s to commemorate the Philippine Independence Day.

So yeah, you could find us here in the office organizing this event twice a year. The hardest part about our preparations is getting the answers of the invited guests. While many of them call to confirm their attendance, there are also those who wait for us to call them up or the formal invite to get to their office before deicing if they will attend or not. There are even some who choose to ignore our calls but have the gall to show up come event time.

New Fave Japanese Restaurant

My husband is a big fan of Japanese food. Seafood allergy aside, he tries to eat Japanese food as often as he can with eyes on the safe options. In Bacoor, there’s this tiny Japanese restaurant that we visit on weekends because 1) we like their food 2) we like their good service 3) we like the tiny but well-kept space 4) the food prices are so cheap and 5) it’s just a 5-minute car ride (or a good walking distance) from our place.

The name of the restaurant is Ume-ya. It’s located on Mambog Road, a few steps away from the Total gas station and the Jollibee store along Molino Boulevard. Ever since a blogger friend (who also lives in Bacoor) mentioned it on FB, we’ve dined there thrice already and have always been satisfied. I’m not really into Japanese food as I’m a Chinese food enthusiast but so far, I share these dishes with the hubby as favorites: kani salad, California maki, katsudon, beef teriyaki, and shoyu ramen.

Occasional Tardiness

When is tardiness tolerated and when is it punished? I don’t know the answer to these questions. All I know is that I was late for work today. Ironically though, I didn’t feel guilty or frustrated or anything negative about it. I was fine with it. I’m not always like this when it comes to tardiness. But right now, I just feel okay with it.

But don’t get me wrong, I won’t be late all the time. It just happened today, my first this year. Not a good start, I admit, but I’ll just charge it to experience and make sure it won’t happen every working day. Haha. And from here onwards, I’ll look at tardiness with open mind. No judgment, whatsoever.

Hello, 2014!

I welcome 2014 with open arms. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do more this year in all the aspects of my life. More in terms of learning new stuff, meeting new friends, gaining new experiences, reading more books, watching more movies, trying out new restaurants, spending more time with family and friends and appreciating life even more.

2013 has been a pretty good year for me. I felt very blessed and satisfied with almost everything. I want this year to be a more beautiful version of that year. The human being in me continues to aspire for something more. No contentment, you’ll say. But I actually feel content and it’s evident in the fact that I’m not setting new goals for this year.
