Foreign Exchange Rates

I didn’t expect changing my Philippine pesos to Malaysian ringgits and Singaporian dollars would make me feel a little sad about the economic state of my home country. Imagine, the value of our currency is way below those of the two. As our currency continues to fall, those of our neighbor countries continue to be strong and stable.

No wonder, more and more Filipinos are trying hard to work abroad where they could earn foreign currencies that their families could exchange for higher rates in Manila. It’s a sure fire way to solve their financial problems and bolster their credit repair efforts. But as promising as it sounds, there are sacrifices that need to be made. The overseas Filipino worker has to stay in a foreign land away from his family.

Pocket Money

As far as traveling is concerned, pocket money is very important. For this particular travel, I made sure to save up money prior to our departure date. I can’t say I have lots of money in my pocket right now, but I’m pretty sure I can last here until our return to Manila without getting hungry.

Now, if we are putting shopping into the picture, I think I can only afford a few things. No, I don’t have plans to buy designer bags, Black diamond earrings nor any kind of luxury items here. I just want to buy some pasalubongs to take home to my family and friends. Haha.

Blogging from Kuala Lumpur

Finally, after almost half a day spent on walking, riding buses, entering and exciting airports, riding the lrt and walking again, we have reached our hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Until now, I can’t believe we have come this far. For the four of us who are all first-timers as international travelers, this is one tiring but fulfilling feat.

We are just so happy and thankful we arrived here safe and sound. It was a blessing the Malaysian Immigration guys didn’t give us a hard time. We passed through their counters with ease and with only a few basic questions asked. I love them already!

Food Trip Plans

If there’s one thing that’s a good conversation starter, it would be food. Don’t you just get amazed how people instantly create a connection simply by talking about the common food they like or the specific food they tasted somewhere? Food as a topic never ceases to draw attention, inspire, and even tickle our senses.

Do you eat to live or you live to eat? This is one question that gets to be asked to many people. I think I’m more of the latter. I enjoy eating food, discovering new dining places, trying out new dishes and exploring new cuisines. Sometimes I even research about a particular cuisine to better understand its characteristics, distinctive flavors and natural tastes.

On Checklists and Travels

Whoever coined the term “checklist” is a genius. Making a checklist in everything we do seems to be the most effective way to make sure everything has been taken care of and properly done. When it comes to traveling, a travel checklist helps greatly in making sure we get to bring everything we’d need in the entire duration of our travel.

For our travel this weekend, my travel checklist is simple and straightforward. As I wanted to pack light and travel light (sort of my travel philosophy!), I am bringing only the essentials (e.g. travel documents, vanity kit, clothing, pocket money, etc.). I think two pairs of footwear as well as two pairs of sunglasses to use alternately (one pair of RayBan sunglasses and one pair of old yet still trendy sunglasses purchased from a local fashion brand ages ago) will do for when it’s time to explore the city by foot.

A Necklace Business

I have this list of dreams in an Excel file kept inside my PC which I update whenever I think of a new dream I want for myself. One of the dreams I have the pleasure of keeping alive in my heart and mind is putting up a necklace business. This is known only to a few but I have a penchant for necklaces. I love wearing them and I love making them, too. Yes, I can make my own necklace made from scratch or from recycled materials.

Actually, I already have a name for my necklace business but I won’t tell anybody just yet. Clue: it’s a secret name derived from a brand of headphones. Haha. Soon I will make my necklace business dream come true. I will sell different kinds of necklaces, from bead necklaces to stainless steel necklaces, from those made from conventional design pieces to those created from indigenous materials. I will make them all and change the world of fashion with my necklaces.
