I used to love PCH Kristine Series but when the second book had unfolded, my appetite for it diminished. I think it’s because of 1) the disappearing act of the talented Denise Laurel playing Emerald, 2) the addition of too many characters that somehow made the plot complicated and 3) the too many bed scenes shown. I know I’m not the only one who noticed and didn’t give a nod of approval to some or all these things.
With my reception towards PCH Kristine Series reaching an all-time low, another ABS-CBN teleserye has caught my attention. It’s vampire-werewolf themed and has a stellar cast. Two of my favorite local celebrities are in it, Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz. The war between vampires and werewolves may be old but let’s admit it, we continue to find it compelling. This is basically what Imortal, a fantasy series, is playing into. But to make it appealing to the younger generations, they injected a love story ala Romeo and Juliet and a prophecy that could change the lives of the lead characters forever.
It’s been two days of no internet in the office. No, we didn’t encounter any technical problem. It’s just that, we had our tables and cabinets revarnished and we had to unplug our internet hub lest we clutter our workplace. We’re still waiting for the maintenance boys to return our newly-varnished tables and we’ll be back to normal (internet-wise).
While waiting for the internet to spring back to life again, I was able to write some posts for my blogs. I was also able to arrange my computer files neatly in folders. Haha. That should give you a clue on how bored I was during the past two days. I felt like I was restless and unable to function properly.
I’m a self-confessed movie buff. But unlike others who frequent the cinema house for their regular movie fix, I watch movies online. It’s the most practical choice, ever. But I have to wait a while before getting my hands on new movies as it takes some time before some good soul uploads them for every netizen to enjoy. And unlike others who download movies first before seeing them, I watch mine on site after the buffering has finished.
I like Nicolas Cage as an actor and so I follow his every movie whenever I can. I just finished watching The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Cage’s latest film. Here, he plays a Merlin-trained sorcerer trying to defend New York from the hands of his former bestfriend who’s now an evil sorcerer. He makes an apprentice out of a science nerd who happens to be a very important sorcerer without his knowing it.
Together with the apprentice, Cage’s character Balthazar Blake tries to keep Merlin’s arch enemy from taking over the world through a destructive spell. For the apprentice, it’s a great test of character as he unleashes his hidden gift to save mankind and open up his true feelings for his childhood sweetheart. For the sorcerer, it’s completing his mission of finding Merlin’s successor and reuniting with the love of his life.
I used to be a fan of telenovelas (my favorites are fantaseryes!) but due to my hectic work schedule, I don’t have much time to get hooked on any of them anymore. Plus, the ones I see on TV these days are not that compelling or maybe, I find the plot too predictable and my curiosity isn’t at all piqued. That was the case until I saw the pilot episode of Precious Hearts Romances Presents ‘Kristine’ at the Kapamilya network last Monday.
I’m happy ABS-CBN thought of this new program. Apparently, Kristine is one among the many pocketbook series authored by Martha Cecilia who happens to be a great novelist. The story line of Kristine alone excites me. It’s about two warring clans and the love that keeps binding them together.
