On Sticking to One’s Budget

If there’s one thing I used to hate myself from doing, it’s my not sticking to the budget I set for myself. Whenever I’d overspend and lack funds to pay for my bills, I’d blame myself for not taking my finances seriously.

Fortunately, I’ve learned my lesson already. I now look at my finances in a more mature way. I make it a point to pay my bills on time and down to the last centavo. The good result? It saves me from headaches and panic attacks. Plus, it gives me peace of mind knowing that I get to pay my obligations and track my money well.

Investing on Real Estate

Last weekend was quite bitin but still fun. We went home Friday night and left for Manila Sunday evening instead of the usual Monday morning. We just slept and ate and cuddled and the cycle just repeated itself. On Sunday afternoon, we attended the house blessing of our friend at a high-rise condominium in Makati.

These days, investing in real estate is popular whether it’s a town house, a single-detached house and lot or a condominium unit. That friend of ours, who works as an engineer in Japan, plans to have his two-unit condo rented to augment his monthly mortgage payment. Good idea, isn’t it?

A Job, Finally!

Remember my younger sister who’s looking for a job? She’s finally gotten one. It’s not a glamorous job that pays well, but it’s decent enough for a starter like her. We advised her to accept the job offer to gain work experience before looking for a more financially-rewarding job and she listened to us.

Now that I have two siblings working already, I guess the “breadwinner” title (which led to the creation of this blog) doesn’t suit me anymore. But I’m just so happy that finally, my siblings can now stand on their own feet and are now capable of helping provide for the needs of our family, particularly in sending our bunso (youngest sibling) to school. She’s currently a 3rd year college student and hopefully, two years from now, she’ll be just like us, working and earning a living.

Family Pets

People have their own preference when it comes to pets that they take care at home. When I was a child, I remember we had this family pet (she was a girl puppy named Snoopy) but she died only after a few days. We never got the chance to raise a new pet after that.

The hubby’s family has had several dogs at home already. What they do is they raise one after another, one at a time. If I remember correctly, they’ve taken care of four female half-breed dogs (Sparski, Sabina, Natasha and Ondoy) since the time the hubby and I became lovers. Their current family pet is Ondoy (they got her during the onset of the destructive typhoon, hence, the name); the three others have long been in dog heaven.

Fun Weekend in the Suburb

Last weekend was fun. My mom, along with my two younger sisters, joined us in our Bacoor home. We spent the weekend doing the usual daily activities but in a fresher and more relaxed environment of the suburb. This is the life.

We cooked, ate, watched cable TV, surfed the net, played NBA games on PS3, walked around the village, and chatted about almost anything under the sun, from grocery shopping and wonder bras to child rearing and steel buildings canada. I missed my mom and two sisters so much, I was glad I had the time to bond with them again since the wedding.
