Misunderstandings in the Family

There is no such thing as a perfect family. Like, in real life. I know my family isn’t perfect but I’m happy we’re a complete and strong one. There are times when family members get into petty fights but usually, they aren’t enough to break the bond that hold us together.

Misunderstandings in the family happen all the time. It’s part of the normal cycle, I think. In our family, I often get misunderstood for my actions, the sometimes harsh words that come out of my mouth, and the way I try to discipline some family members that are pasaway (brat or troublesome). So it’s not unusual that misunderstandings between some family members and me ensue without warning. It’s a good thing everything gets fixed peacefully in the end.

A New Typhoon

Hearing the news about the new typhoon Helen coming to the Philippines very soon (or has it arrived already?), I can’t help but think of the possible damage it would cost my beloved country again, just like the typhoons that came prior to it.

While we can’t do anything about typhoons, we can always prepare for it. If you’re house is lying in a low area, make sure to follow rainfall alerts and guidelines for possible evacuation. If you’re house rarely gets to experience flooding, then lucky you. All you need to do is reinforce it and do repairs for leaks and prepare as much food as you would need during the onset of the storm.

Suprises from Old and New

Peeking into my old closet last night when I visited my siblings’ place, I found some old clothes that still fit me (now that I’m preggy and big!) and some others that I could definitely fit into after my baby bump is gone. I was surprised by how much clothes I’ve accumulated all these years and how most of them I haven’t been able to use for a long time.

While looking for my work shoes this morning under our bed, I saw some shopping bags that had shoe boxes inside. I opened one and was surprised to see two brand new pair of shoes that I already forgot I had bought before. I opened another one and saw a pair of knee braces that the hubby bought during those times when he was still using his motorcycle frequently. I texted him about it and he was also surprised he had them. Now he plans to give them away to his motorcycle-rider cousin.

My Wants, Then and Now

Prior to my pregnancy, I had so many things going on in my mind. You see, I just got married a few months ago. I had domestic skills but thought it wasn’t enough to please my husband when we’d start to finally live together under one roof. I wanted to be a good wife.

I also wanted things for myself, for my growth as a person. I wanted to get an MA degree or take up law. I wanted to get into sewing and other crafts. I even wanted to grow my entrepreneurial skills by putting up a retail shop and visiting mfried.com for retail store fixtures. You know, things that a lot of women normally want for themselves.

The Need to Prove Yourself to People

Have you ever experienced having the need to prove yourself to people? I have, and I’ve come to realize that when you believe in yourself and your capabilities, proving yourself to people becomes an easy task.

In a world where success and money matter more than one’s endearing traits, the need to prove your worth becomes more of a daily challenge than merely an assurance that you deserve whatever achievement or recognition you have under your belt.
