Weekend Highlights

Last weekend was a blast. I hope all weekends are like that. So light and fun and happy. All of the things I did was enjoyable and I even got to spend some quality bonding time with my family and the hubby.

On Saturday, I went shopping at my fave department store with my mom and my sister. Landmark Makati never fails to amaze me with its dirt-cheap clothes. Their accessories and bazaar sections are the best. I’ve always found treasures in them.

Wet Weekend

Last weekend was a wet weekend. The whole Saturday, we experienced heavy rains in Bacoor which prevented us from going out. The hubby initially planned for us to hit the mall and watch the new Batman movie but decided against it when he looked outside and saw the angry skies above. Haha.

On Sunday, the weather was manageable with just light rains in the morning and drizzles in the afternoon. We were able to hear the morning mass and buy food from the local market for our lunch. I cooked some ham and corn soup and granted the hubby’s viand request of menudo. We had a fantastic meal. We spent the rest of the day sleeping and just watching TV.

Grocery Shopping

It’s that time of the month again when I need to replenish the pantry supplies in our Bacoor home. I’m a little pressured because my mom suddenly decided to join us for the weekend along with my two younger sisters. She said she wants to see our new kitchen and spends some quality time with us. Fine. Haha.

Normally, our go-to place to shop for groceries is SM Bacoor. It’s just a 15-minute car ride from our place and the supermarket there is enormous and well-stocked. I liked it there as it looks clean and the cashiers at the counter are friendly. Oh, and those looking for barcode scanner online should take a second look at the bar code scanners used by these employees because they look sleek and high-tech. But I digress.

Weekend Cook

I have always enjoyed cooking. Cooking for me is as therapeutic as shopping is for other girls. When I cook, I can be anyone I want to be. Armed with a ladle and a pan, I can make my foodie dreams come true and get my senses satisfied in the process.

I learned how to cook from my mom. I remember when I was little I would watch my mom whipping up great-tasting dishes at the humble kitchen of our provincial home. You see, I grew up in the province where people cook real meals made from the freshest and finest ingredients one could easily find in the town market or at a neighbor’s farm.

From Tagaytay and Back

Our Tagaytay weekend was a blast. Short but sweet. Finally, I’ve seen The Cliffhouse and even dined in one of its restaurants, Cafe Platito. Our overnight stay at Las Ventanas was quiet and serene. I loved the complimentary dinner, breakfast and full body massage they gave us. I am definitely writing about my pleasant Las Ventanas Tagaytay experience in my travel blog.

From Las Ventanas, we visited the Pink Sisters Chapel to say a little prayer. And then we headed to Mushroomburger for lunch. We were surprised to see this fast food resto filled with people. Did I mention they serve good-tasting mushroomburgers at very affordable prices?

Weekend Stories: It’s All Good

Last weekend was quite hectic but super fun. On Saturday, I did a special assignment in the office in the morning before attending the much-anticipated Blogapalooza event at Fully Booked Boni High in the afternoon. The former made me a bit tired but good thing the later brought back my energy with its festive atmosphere and cool surprises. Plus, I got to see a lot of my old and new blogger friends again.

When dinnertime came, I met up with the fiancee and we enjoyed Filipino food. Saturday was also the eve of our monthsary and so we stayed at this awesome hotel that lay in the heart of Manila. We wanted to jog the next morning (Sunday) but we weren’t able to do so because we woke up late. To make up for this, we decided to walk our way to our respective houses after checking out of the hotel.
