Weekend Story: Balikbayan Box Surprise + Bonding Time with My In-Laws

Last weekend, the hubby and I were able to make the most of our time together despite the bad weather due to typhoon Josie. On Saturday, my PILs received a balikbayan box from their family friends in the US. (Thank you again Flor family for the treats and goodies!) Later that day, my in-laws decided to join us in Bacoor for the weekend with a stop-over at Mall of Asia (MOA).

The boys watched PBA live at MOA Arena while the girls had dinner and did some shopping at the mall. We stayed in Bacoor until Sunday afternoon and drove to Manila at nighttime so we wouldn’t have to endure the heavy traffic the next day. Actually, the provincial government of Cavite had already put the province under a state of calamity during that time and so we were quite worried na rin. It proved to be a good decision because the heavy rains would continue to pour all throughout Cavite until Monday as reported in the news, submerging many towns there in knee-deep flood (some parts of Bacoor included).

Weekend Story: Breakfast at Antonio’s + Gringo Chicken and Ribs

Last weekend was all about enjoying good food and good company. First, there was Breakfast at Antonio’s in Tagaytay where the hubby and I, along with my youngest sister Jodie, had a hearty brunch on Sunday morning. Then, there was the newly-opened Gringo Chicken and Ribs at SM Manila where we had a nice dinner with my in-laws on the same day upon our return to Manila. I, therefore, conclude that this weekend made me bigger than ever, hahaha. Diet, we shall meet again tomorrow! 😛

Weekend Story: Islas Pinas + Virgin Lab Fest 14

Last weekend was highlighted by experiences that were a delight to the senses. On Saturday, the hubby and I checked out the newest food park in town — Islas Pinas at Double Dragon Plaza in Pasay City. Then we, along with my brother Dan, watched the Set D (composed of three independent plays) of the Virgin Lab Fest XIV held at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) before driving home in Bacoor. We would meet up with my in-laws to dine at Islas Pinas again on Sunday night before going back to Manila.

Weekend Story: Impromptu Tagaytay Trip

For last weekend, the hubby suddenly decided to drive to Tagaytay on a Sunday morning right after we went to church to hear mass. My mind was preoccupied with work (i.e. ASEAN-related events) that I just said yes without thinking. Before I knew it, I was already staring at the beautiful Taal Lake and wolfing down some burger and rice meals at Mushroomburger. It was a fun trip which I would like to do every now and then as I want to try as much restaurants and attractions in Tagaytay as I can given our free time and of course, budget.

Weekend Story: Catching Up, Cozying Up

Last weekend was a great time to rest and relax. We went out to brave the heavy traffic on Friday night, though, and traveled all the way to Alabang from Manila to eat delicious ramen with friends. Ramen Yushoken made me eat pork! I just couldn’t resist their tantanmen and gyoza. Sinulit ko na ang cheat day ko, hahaha. The rest of the weekend, the hubby and I were just cozying up together in the bed tinkering with our phones because it was the next best thing to do aside from doing nothing. We only went out to hear the mass and go to the wet market on Sunday before driving back to Manila in the afternoon that same day.

Weekend Story: Easy Breezy

Last weekend was easy breezy and started early for the hubby and me. On Friday night, we met up with friends to celebrate the birthday of our friend Raffy. He’s the chairman of a barangay here in Manila and he just turned 39. From our meeting place which was their barangay hall, we transferred to a nearby restaurant to have dinner and some wine. We were a group of six and we spent time until a little past midnight. From the restaurant, the hubby and I drove to Bacoor and stayed there until Sunday night.
