Merry Christmas!

Christmas has finally arrived! I hope you are having a merry one. The hubby and I joined my family for Noche Buena last midnight and we just got back home from my parents’ place this morning.

On our way home, we saw lots of children dressed to the nines ready to pay their godparents a visit for their aguinaldo. I felt happy just looking at them. Oh what joy the Christmas spirit brings!

Internal Arrangements

Now that I’m married, planning for Christmas and New Year celebrations is a must. As early as the day after our wedding, the hubby and I have already made “internal arrangements” as to where we would celebrate the two special occasions. Christmas would be with my side of the family while the New Year would be with his. Fair enough.

Things were different when I was still single. It’s a must that we stick together at home. When the hubby and I became a couple, I remember celebrating a few New Year’s with them. There was even one New Year celebration where they invited my family over. It was a fun celebration complete with parlor games, prizes, gifts, fireworks and of course, lots of food.

Decorating for Christmas 2012

Ours may be the only house in the Philippines with not a single sign of the coming Christmas season yet. Our Christmas decors are still wrapped up upstairs and waiting to be reassembled. I dunno, I must just be plain busy or crazy lazy for not acting on them at this point.

Christmas has always been a happy occasion for me. But this Christmas will be a bit different. I will be celebrating it with the hubby for the first time with us as a married couple. I will surely miss having the traditional Noche Buena with my family. We can’t just make plans because it’s a must that we celebrate both Christmas and New Year in our marital house. It’s our first year in this home, after all.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom’s birthday. She’s now 58 years old. A bit old, yes, but it doesn’t show. She’s still full of energy and laughter. There’s no dull moment with her around. She’s a natural clown and we love her to pieces.

Mom, I know you don’t read my blog but I just want to feature you here because I appreciate your presence in my life all these years. You’ve been a source of strength and inspiration to me. I can’t imagine life without you. Every day I thank God for giving you into my life.

Soon you’ll gonna be a grandmother to my first baby na. I know you’re very excited about it. I’m confident that you’ll be a good Mamu to my baby. I thank you in advance.

Keep the youthful spirit alive, mom! I’m just here when you need me. I will never let you down like how you’ve never let me down, ever. My siblings and I will take care of you and dad when you grow older, and that’s a promise. Mwah! 🙂

Birthday Celebrations in October

Forty nine days to go and it’s October once again. I so love the month! October is actually the most celebrated month in our family. Why? Because it’s my birth month! Haha. And the birth month of my grandfather (though he’s in heaven now), my father, my younger sister, the fiancee and a dozen friends.

Did I mention that the fiancee and I celebrate our anniversary as a couple on that month, too? That’s why I always get giddy and excited during this month and everybody in our family is in the mood for a celebration. Normally, we just hold one big party to cover the entire line-up of special occasions within our family. It’s one unforgettable celebration made complete by nice birthday cakes, colorful balloons, cool birthday party invitations, and other exciting party ensembles.
