Weekend Story: Paseo de Sta. Rosa and Nuvali-Solenad with Friends

Last weekend was fun and a bit exhausting. On Saturday afternoon, the hubby and I met with his thesis consultant again and after that, we picked up our good friend Carmela from her house and we all drove to our Bacoor home. The next day, Sunday, we heard mass at St. John Bosco Church in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna before meeting up with my superfriend Nice at the nearby Paseo de Sta. Rosa. It was Carmela’s first time there and so we were quite excited to show her around. We explored the place and did some shopping and after an hour or so, we transferred to Nuvali-Solenad complex for more strolling (and shopping, you bet!). While I had no intention to shop, I ended up getting a few things from this trip. Ang hirap pag may kasamang nag-prepare talagang magshopping doon (hello hubby and superfriend Nice!), hahaha.

Here are photos from the weekend pasyal of the Tropang Ramen:

Frugal Find: Php200 Sale Items from H&M

If there’s an H&M branch that I love visiting, it’s the one at Robinsons Magnolia. Why? Because I always see sale items there at low prices. How low? About Php200 low. Take a look at the top and the shoes I bought there both priced at just Php200 (or almost US$2).

This pair of shoes (are they what you call casual loafers?) screams summer. I liked the orange-y color and the embroidered details plus they were in my size so I got them! (The other sizes were still sold at their regular prices.)

Frugal Find: Rubi Shoes, 3 for P1,200

I got introduced to Rubi Shoes through Cotton On. They carry Rubi shoes in their stores and after buying two pairs (camel wedges and white sandals) in 2013 –which are both still alive today –I made it a point to check out Cotton On occasionally for new shoe designs. (My fave branches are Cotton On Rob Magnolia and Rob Manila.)

When I found out Rubi Shoes has stand-alone stores in Rob Magnolia and Alabang Town Center (ATC), I’d visit them whenever I’d make a trip to those malls.

Frugal Find: H&M Basic Cardigans

When H&M opened stores here in Manila, I initially didn’t mind it. I thought it was just another sushal brand that I won’t be able to afford. I was wrong. Just like Uniqlo, it sells high-quality yet reasonably-priced clothes pala.

Have you seen their home items? Ang gaganda, grabe! But I’m not sharing about those and instead, the two basic cardigans I bought from H&M – Robinsons Manila a couple of weeks ago. Priced at P599 per piece, these cardigans are dainty! Touching one for the very first time, I could tell the fabric was of high quality. Even the stitches were perfectly aligned.

Frugal Find: Himalaya Herbals Lip Balm

My lips usually get extra dry at this time of the year and so when I found out I didn’t have a lip balm in my personal care stash, I immediately bought one at Watsons SM Manila. While reading and comparing labels, I decided to experiment on this brand that sounded new to me — Himalaya Herbals Lip Balm. Priced at just P59, it’s the cheapest lip balm there (along with the one under the Watsons brand that comes in fruit flavors).

This particular lip balm is a product of India and the company behind it has been in existence since 1930. It has carrot seed oil (a natural sunscreen) and wheat germ oil that’s rich in Vitamin E. The product claims to nourish, soften, and prevents chapping of lips.
