Weekend Story: Regina RICA in Tanay, Rizal + Dinner Reception at the Legarda’s

Last weekend was spent with family here in Manila. The hubby and I opted not to drive home in Bacoor primarily because we got invited to the “last hurrah” party on Sunday at the Legarda Mansion where my PILs work. The property, formerly known as La Cocina de Tita Moning (where I used to work as a part-time tour guide) has been sold and the family decided to throw a sort of farewell bash. It was attended by their close friends and it was definitely an honor and a privilege for us to have been asked to be there, too. It was a magical and touching night. While there were some tears shed, the party was mostly fun and memorable with lots of food, booze, laughter, chatter, singing, and dancing. Awwww, I will terribly miss that place which has served as home for the hubby’s family for decades!

Our Saturday was laid back. I spent it mostly sleeping and playing with our pet Jasper (the friendly dog). The hubby, on the other hand, went out to meet with his car club friends at this car show (Manila International Auto Show 2018) at World Trade Center in Pasay. On Sunday morning, we got to go on a road trip to Regina RICA (Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia) in Tanay, Rizal. The place was peaceful and solemn albeit packed with people. We were glad to have experienced it for the first time. On our way back to my PILs’ place, we had a late lunch at Lutong Pugon nestled in the house of this local painter named Jun Tiongco which is just around two kilometers from Regina RICA.

Weekend Story: Santa Clarita Diet TV Series + Inbox Food Hub in Imus, Cavite

Last long weekend was quiet and relaxing. On Saturday morning, the hubby and I took Jasper (our pet dog) to the clinic for his anti-rabies shot. We then drove to Bacoor in the afternoon along with my SIL Albie. We spent the rest of the weekend mostly at home eating and sleeping and watching this new TV series on Netflix called Santa Clarita Diet. It stars my fave Hollywood star Drew Barrymore, so why not? Haha. Personally, I like the zombie-themed show as its light and funny with just the right amount of violence and gore. On Sunday, we weren’t able to hear mass because we woke up late in the morning and got lazy in the afternoon. We drove back to Manila on Monday night and prepared for the new work week with a wide smile (coz it’s a short one and a new weekend awaits!).

Weekend Story: New Food Finds + Velenica’s Kitchen in Kawit, Cavite

Last weekend was all about eating. Kaya palaki na ako ng palaki, eh! Wala, ang sarap talaga kumain lalo na pag weekend, hahaha. The hubby and I, along with my SIL Albie, drove home in Bacoor on Saturday and went back to Manila on Sunday afternoon. We just ate and ate, and slept, of course. If you’d ask me, I’d say it was a happy weekend even if our eating made us gain more unwanted pounds.

Weekend Story: 6th Wedding Anniversary Celebration (a.k.a. Our Palawan Trip)

The hubby and I both self-declared a long weekend last weekend. Justified naman because it was a milestone in our married life, hehe. March 17th, which fell on a Saturday this year, was our 6th wedding anniversary. So, we decided to spend it on a trip to a place we hadn’t been to yet. I suggested Puerto Princesa City (PPC) in Palawan and the hubby said yes in a jiffy. He said he wanted to experience the marvelous underground river tour the place is famous for. I, on the other hand, wanted the same and more.

So, I immediately booked our tickets and accommodation for a 4D3N vacation (March 15-18, 2018) at PPC which, we would later find out, is known as the “city in a forest.” We even had some company during the trip courtesy of Mame, my MIL, and my balikbayan aunt Laura. Gusto raw nila sumama, eh madali naman kami kausap, kaya go! Totoo naman pala talaga na maganda at malinis sa Puerto Princesa! Nakakatuwa at nakakamangha rin na napapaligiran ng mga puno at berdeng berde ang kapaligiran doon!

Weekend Story: Suits Marathon + St. Pio Shrine in Sto. Tomas, Batangas

Last weekend was spent in Bacoor and Manila, as usual. We were already in Bacoor as early as Friday night this time, though. On Saturday morning, the hubby and I watched several episodes of Suits, a US TV series about this genius albeit fake lawyer Mike Ross. We just love it, from the story to the stellar cast. Somehow, it reminds me of my childhood dream of being a lawyer. If you want to know how the US justice system works and how law firms do their business, then this is the show for you. I don’t know with you but I always have a great time watching Mike Ross and Harvey Specter (Ross’s boss) work together on a case, with Mike Ross almost always figuring out something to win it. Their everyday banter is cute, too. We can’t wait to get to the final season (Season 7)!

The hubby and I also went out on Saturday night. Chosen place was Alabang Town Center. We initially wanted to watch a movie but decided against it because the hubby remembered we had to sleep early for our trip to St. Pio Shrine in Batangas the next day. On Sunday morning, we drove to Sto. Tomas, Batangas to hear the 8:30AM mass at St. Pio Shrine. A lot has changed on the place. There are now ample parking spaces and new structures in the complex. The hubby also noticed that they use solar power which was great. From the shrine, we drove straight to my in-laws’ place in Manila, rested a bit, and prepared for the new work week.

Weekend Story: Vaccine Time for Our New Pet + Quiet Time in Bacoor

Last weekend was laidback. On Saturday, we took our new pet Jasper to the dog clinic for his second shot of the 5-in-1 vaccine for pups. He was generally behaved during our visit despite the long wait (7:30am in, 2:30pm out) and the hot weather. He played and made friends with the other doggies and even got to take a power nap while waiting for his turn. He was also cool when the nurse vaccinated him. He really lived up to his monicker of Jasper, the friendly dog. Haha. On Saturday night, the hubby and I went home and stayed there until Sunday night to do some chores and to have some quiet time.
