Investing in Education for a Better Future

Last May, the hubby finally enrolled in graduate school. He’s currently in his first semester taking up Master of Technology (MT) at a state university here in Manila. It was a decision he had been considering for a long time but didn’t make immediately because he still had to prepare himself. When he became fully prepared, both financially and emotionally, he finally did it. And I was so glad he did. He has my full support on this one!

Actually, he needs continuing education to get the promotion he’s long been wanting to get. He already has the approval of the boss, the only thing that keeps him away from it is a master’s degree which is one of the qualifications required for the higher position he’s been eyeing.

Summer Plans

With the number of events we are organizing in the office from March to June, it seems that all my summer plans will either be cancelled or postponed to a later date. OMG, we are soooo busy these days!

But it’s okay. More work in the office means more opportunities to learn. More work in the office means stability. More work in the office means I am blessed with a job that pays.

Another Work Week Ends

Thank God it’s Friday! As cliché as it sounds, I really like it when it’s Friday already. It means the work week ends at 5:00 pm (6:00 pm in my case!), the weekend is just several hours away, and a new adventure awaits me. The adventure could be a relaxing stay at home, a tiring but enjoyable mall trip or an impromptu road trip. Actually, it can be anything that creates happy memories and spells f-u-n.

On a different note, today is a special day in our office as it celebrates its founding anniversary. I heard there will be free packed lunch for everyone and a mass will be held this afternoon. Cool. This doesn’t happen every day so I better take advantage of it. Haha.

New Hope, Less Expectation

I just received a good news in the form of an email. A new opportunity is presenting itself again. I dunno if I should be happy or sad, excited or nervous, about it. I’m having mixed feelings right now. But definitely, I’m giving it another shot. Who knows, it would be mine now. My words may be vague and puzzling to you, but the surprise I got this afternoon is worth a lot. Crazy as it sounds, but I think my future depends on it.

I failed in it the last time. How would I fare this time around? I have just been given new hope, but I have decided to expect less. I don’t want to imagine things. I want them to appear right before my eyes, to come my way. This is it. There’s no turning back. I wanna win this but surprisingly for me, I dunno how. Perhaps, I’ll just give it my best shot and see what happens from there…

On Switching Jobs

I can count on my two hands the number of times my brother has wanted to switch jobs. He’s a graduate of B.S. Industrial Education Major in Computer Education from TUP in 2009. He’s first job was in government and then he transferred to a school after he’s contract had ended in the former. Prior to the two, he went on a training as management trainee for a popular fast food. Fast forward to today, he wants to be a teacher and lucky him, he’s going to be a teacher soon because he has passed his interview and demo recently.

Switching jobs has somehow been a trend in my brother’s young career. I can’t blame him. He wants to get better compensation all the time. Isn’t that what most, if not all people, are trying to get as well? With the scarcity of jobs in Manila, young graduates like my brother are trying to make the best of their youth by taking advantage of good opportunities coming their way. I guess even if it involves teaching jobs, tech jobs or nursing jobs, they will see to it that they get the best.

When I Don’t Have Work at Night…

…I go malling with the boyfriend. Proximity wise, we have quite a few malls to choose from. There’s SM Manila that’s just a jeepney or pedicab ride away. There’s Robinsons Otis that requires the same ride. There’s SM San Lazaro which is just 15 minutes by car. There’s Robinsons Place Malate which is nearer by five minutes than SM San Lazaro is. At times when the boyfriend has extra fuel funds, we choose Mall of Asia (MOA) which is a good 20 minutes ride from the house. There, those are our top choices. The rest we only visit when we have something very important to get.

Just last Wednesday night when we didn’t have bookings at the restaurant and I wasn’t in the mood to read up on adapexin-p (for weight loss purposes!), the boyfriend, his sister A, my brother D and I went to MOA to chill out. After a simple dinner at Chowking, my brother D tagged me along to watch Catch Me…I’m in Love, the latest Star Cinema movie starring Sarah Geronimo (my brother is a big fan!) and Gerald Anderson. I was promised a free ticket so I went without second thoughts. Haha.
