New Instagram User

I’ve recently switched to iPhone and is currently exploring its awesome features. I learned how to use this phone when hubby got one a few years ago (it was a 3GS, now he owns a 4S). I also owned an iPod Touch 4G before but decided to leave it to my siblings when I got tired of it.

iPhone has so much apps to entertain people. At present, I’m hooked on Instagram. Well, I’m not really hooked, I just enjoy staring at nice photos uploaded by the inspiring people I follow. Haha. Oftentimes, I run out of photos (and ideas for captioning) to share. But it doesn’t keep me from checking Instagram whenever I’m online.

Weekend Cook

I have always enjoyed cooking. Cooking for me is as therapeutic as shopping is for other girls. When I cook, I can be anyone I want to be. Armed with a ladle and a pan, I can make my foodie dreams come true and get my senses satisfied in the process.

I learned how to cook from my mom. I remember when I was little I would watch my mom whipping up great-tasting dishes at the humble kitchen of our provincial home. You see, I grew up in the province where people cook real meals made from the freshest and finest ingredients one could easily find in the town market or at a neighbor’s farm.

Food Cravings During Pregnancy

“Ano’ng pagkain ang pinaglilihian mo?” (What food do you crave for?) That’s the usual question I get from people now that I’m pregnant. To be honest, I don’t have any specific food that I crave for consistently. Being a foodie for as long as I can remember, I crave for different kinds of food at different times of the day. Sometimes I get confused over it already. Haha.

The past days, I’ve been craving for Chinese food (siopao, siomai, Yangchow fried rice, beef and wonton noodles, etc.), Manang’s Chicken, Jollibee spaghetti, Greenwich Hawaiian pizza, buffalo wings, roasted peanuts, ginisang munggo and most citrus fruits. It’s weird because I only get food cravings come dinnertime and my appetite hasn’t changed much since I became preggy. I still eat a normal breakfast, have very little appetite for lunch and get really hungry during dinnertime.

Ideal Weight Gain for Pregnant Women

Pregnancy means a lot of things to different women. If there’s one thing I so look forward to about my pregnancy, it’s eating a lot and gaining weight. Haha. Seriously, gaining weight is a must during pregnancy. The baby has to get as much nutrition as it can from the mother.

My pre-pregnancy weight was 130 lbs. This morning, I hit the scales and found out I gained 4 lbs. Cool, huh! It means I’m gaining weight and it’s good for the baby. I know I need to gain more as my pregnancy progresses, but I don’t wanna gain more than what’s needed. So, I researched a bit and found some information on the recommended weight gain a pregnant woman should have:

2nd Month

Yesterday was quite special. It was our 2nd month as a married couple and we have so much to be thankful for. Top on the list is the fact that we are expecting a baby. Today, I’m exactly on my 12 weeks of pregnancy and we’re very glad that everything is doing just fine.

It’s too early to say but I think the hubby and I have been adjusting really well with our new life together. Traveling to and from Bacoor home four times a week is no easy feat. Yes, we still sleep over at my in-laws’ place (to save on gas) whenever we have something important to do late at night. Haha.

In Sickness and In Health

I’ve recently found out through my blood-related uncle that her wife (my aunt), who’s been battling with stage 3 breast cancer for more than two years now, has been diagnosed with bone cancer. What the…? It didn’t sink into my mind instantly, at first I thought he was kidding. But when I re-read his SMS, I felt every word was in a kind of soul wrenching pain.

I know my uncle loves his wife so much and he’ll do everything to save her. I also know that he did so much for her to get cured but to no avail. You see, my aunt has even developed a new kind of cancer, and to think it’s the most painful of all the cancers known to man today. I admire my uncle for standing by her side all through these years. It’s very hard to be in his situation.
