Frugal Find: H&M Basic Cardigans

When H&M opened stores here in Manila, I initially didn’t mind it. I thought it was just another sushal brand that I won’t be able to afford. I was wrong. Just like Uniqlo, it sells high-quality yet reasonably-priced clothes pala.

Have you seen their home items? Ang gaganda, grabe! But I’m not sharing about those and instead, the two basic cardigans I bought from H&M – Robinsons Manila a couple of weeks ago. Priced at P599 per piece, these cardigans are dainty! Touching one for the very first time, I could tell the fabric was of high quality. Even the stitches were perfectly aligned.

I tried it on and liked how it fit. It was also cool (the term is presko in Tagalog) when worn but provided enough warmth inside, if you know what I mean. I even found out I was a size XS in it. Okay pala dito, ang liit ng size ko. (I am usually a size M or L in tops and dresses). Haha.

Among the available colors, I chose black and gray because I could easily wear them to work. I didn’t buy them immediately during my first visit. I had to think it through if I really needed them or not. Most of the cardigans in my closet came either from Divisoria or SM Dept. Store. I knew that these cardigans from H&M were of good quality because I had something to compare them with. When I came back to H&M a week after my first visit, I was already convinced that I would buy them. So buy them I did!

The price of basic cardigans (with almost the same quality) in other stores ranges from P1,000 to P1,500. (The V-neck ones from Uniqlo are P1,490 a piece.) The cardigans from H&M are definitely a wise buy. And so I thought they qualified in my “Frugal Finds.”

How about you, where do you get your cardigans from? 🙂

May you choose happiness always,

  1. According to my SIL, Zara and Mango is way better than H&M when it comes to quality because it’s a Spanish brand. But still H&M works just fine because I also have pieces of their clothes line. I agree with you. Who couldn’t love H&M’s line of clothes? So versatile, corporate and chic w/out also compromising quality.

    1. Hi Donna! Thanks for visiting back. To be honest, I haven’t bought a piece of clothing/accessory from Zara and Mango yet. I have a few pieces from them but those were all gifted to me. My girl officemate swears by Zara’s quality, though. She’s a fan of that brand. I’ll find out if H&M is at par with the two brands through these cardigans… 🙂

  2. I only have one cardigan (gray),I bought it new and I forget from where but I like it.When I’m having a hard time to find at the second-hand store I give JC Penney or Walmart a try. It’s really worth it to own one!

    1. I agree, Gladys. I love cardigans! If I had money, I would want to have one in all colors, haha. 🙂

  3. Pinaka-value for money ang Uniqlo (compared with F21, Zara, H&M, Cotton On, and MNG). Okay naman ang Zara, pero medyo mahalia. Uniqlo, meanwhile, is priced just right and super tibay. I have a pinstripe long-sleeve polo I got back in 2010, ang ganda pa rin ng tela (pero nasunog ng plantsadora ang sleeves — I just turned it into a short-sleeved polo hehe). Yung sa H&M, swertihan sa quality. They have high-quality clothes, pero yung iba, hindi.

    1. True that. I have pants from Uniqlo at wala ako masabi sa quality. Ang tibay at hindi nagbabago ang kulay! About H&M, oh, I see. Pero eto talagang cardigans nila, panalo. Eto pa lang naman ang nabili ko from them. Yung denim long-sleeved ko (H&M also), gifted lang, pero mukhang okay din yun, so far. 🙂

  4. I want to try their items too – H&M pero I haven’t been into their stores. Wala pa ata sila mall of asia kasi. Gusto ko mag try ng pants or anything sa uniqlo talaga. Sa cotton on kasi mejo mahal talaga no?!

    1. Ahm, wala pa nga atang H&M sa MOA. Ang H&M, Uniqlo at Cotton On, I think halos same price points lang, Jen. 🙂

  5. I agree with H&M being reasonably priced. Yung mga pang baby/toddlers nila, mura lang! Compared with Gingersnaps. And ok ang quality talaga. Although when it comes to basics, I prefer Mango. Mahal pero grabe sa tibay. Hehehe.. Mine is like 8 yrs already and still buhay pa.

Hehe. 🙂
