Food as Christmas Gift

It’s not everyday that we are gifted with food and more food. This usually happens during the Christmas season when people give food as presents to their friends. Binge eating during Christmas becomes more tempting with the many food choices we get as presents.

This is especially true in our office where food gifts come aplenty. They are mostly in bread and pastry forms. Even the food gifts received by our boss she happily shares with us. Opening these presents never fails to put big smiles on my face and those of my officemates. Good thing our boys have a heavy duty cutter (that looks like a Martor USA box cutter!) on stand by which makes opening a lot easier. Haha.

Dressing Up for Work

Dressing up is fun, especially when you’re a girl. While I’m a self-proclaimed, low-maintenance gal, I also enjoy dressing up once in a while. In fact, one of the goals I set this year is to dress properly at work. You know, taking the corporate attire thing seriously even if I’m just working in a government office.

Dressing up for work (or otherwise) is more fun if your wardrobe is always updated. Regular shopping for new clothes is good, but only if you can afford it. Sometimes, all you need is some creativity and imagination. You can actually mix and match clothes without looking cheap and unsophisticated. You can use up old clothes and make them look brand new to the eyes of your workmates. Add some nice accessories to your outfit, for instance. It’s a sure way to glam up your office attire.

To remind myself to dress up more often, you might just see outfit posts here in the coming days!

9th Month

I just realized I wasn’t able to write our 8th and 9th monthsary posts. I was on a two-month maternity leave then and recovering from both physical and emotional pain. I had my reasons not to blog and so I didn’t.

Our 9th month as husband and wife remains as steady as ever. I don’t wanna measure our happiness at this point because we are still grieving. But I must tell you we are grateful to God for all the blessings He continues to shower upon us despite of and in spite of. I can tell from our married life today that we are recovering well from the tragedy of losing our first born. The love and support of our families and friends aside, this won’t be possible for us without the help of each other.

Divisoria Shopping

My Christmas shopping isn’t complete without the requisite trip to Divisoria to do some, well, shopping of course. Yesterday morning, my mom and I trooped to the so-called “bargain shopping mecca.” The roads leading to the place was in heavy traffic. The usual 10-minute ride lasted almost an hour, can you believe?

When we got to Divisoria, the roads to the malls there were filled with goods and people (yes, there were lots of goods scattered on the road sold by street vendors). It was hard to shop inside the two malls we visited (168 and 999) but the finds were worth the money and energy we spent. We found some great deals and went home very happy and satisfied.

Comfort Food List

Do you have a list of your comfort food? You know, the edible things you love to stuff in your mouth to comfort you when you feel down or simply give you the energy to go about your day? I have mine which continues to get long as the days go by. Oh, I just love food!

Top on my list is anything sweet (e.g. chocolates, milk and mint-based candies, cakes, pastries, ice cream, etc.). Blame my mother for that as I got my sweet tooth from her. I guess we’re just lucky we haven’t gotten the dreaded diabetes yet (knocks on wood!). But recently, to cut back on sugar and safeguard my health, I have decided to drop those sweet candies in my list and replaced them with sugar-free ones. I also limit my intake of sugar and drink lots of water whenever I can.

2013 is Year of the Snake

2012 is drawing to a close. Next year, 2013, is year of the snake. Is it gonna be a good or a bad year? Who knows for sure? I mean, it’s only God who definitely knows what’s gonna happen in 2013. As they say, it’s all part of the big plan.

As for me, I won’t have any expectations. In 2013, I’ll just try to live my life one day at a time. Of course, there will be targets and goals, both personal and marital. But as I’ve said, there’d be no expectations. Anything goes.
