Cool Weekend

Last weekend was cool and quiet. It was very restful for the hubby and me. We indulged ourselves in sleep and food and TV. We only got out of the house to go to the mall on Saturday. We paid some bills, got some supplies from the supermarket and had dinner at our fave fastfood. Oh, I also found a nice shirt dress and impulsively bought it to the hubby’s surprise. Haha.

When we got home, we hanged out in our living room. I read my magazines (where I found out about the wonders of restaurant pagers used in restaurants in the US and Europe) while he watched TV. We slept late that night and woke up late as well the next day.

This Too Shall Pass

I just heard from the hubby that our friends Vanessa and Oscar have just lost their new born baby boy. He had heart complications and died from cardiac arrest this morning. I can so relate. The hubby and I experienced the same thing just last year. The wound it left us is still raw and healing from the loss is a continuous process for us.

A few weeks from now, it will be our son’s first birth and death anniversary. While their son had lived for a few days, ours only lived for four hours. Four short and agonizing hours. The pain was indescribable. Somehow, I feel they’re luckier than us because he’s their second child while baby Pippo is our first. But then, losing a loved one is the worst tragedy of all that feeling this sense of luck is irrelevant at this time.

On Making Random Lists

I write a lot of random lists. I actually enjoy making them. List of things to buy in the supermarket, list of things to do at work, list of things I want to get for myself, list of movies I want to watch, list of dishes I want to try cooking at home, list of restaurants I want to try, list of books I want to read, list of new words or phrases I’ve read or heard from other people which I’d like to incorporate in my writing, etc, etc. These lists, no matter how shallow or deep they sound, are equally meaningful to me. They keep me sane. They also bring order into my life.

But just because I make these lists doesn’t mean I’m a super organized person nor a very disciplined one. These lists are just there to remind me of the things that matter to me. They also remind me about the things I look forward to doing, acquiring or simply having the chance to enjoy or appreciate from afar. These lists undergo constant editing, too, just like how my life keeps on evolving before my very eyes.

Ready for the Weekend

It’s Friday already and weekend is only several hours away. I can’t wait for the weekend to arrive. I can’t wait for the hubby and I to go home in Cavite. My SIL asked to go with us and we agreed to take her so I guess that’s another reason to be happy about. Having a guest at home is always fun as I get to cook more. You know how much I love experimenting in the kitchen. Haha.

Speaking of cooking, I just remembered my pantry already needs replenishment. Good thing my new fave supermarket, Rustan’s Fresh in Evia, Daang Hari is just a 30-minute car ride away. I so love the atmosphere there. Not only do they have a wide selection of fresh produce and dry goods, but they also have friendly staff and a spick-and-span place that makes grocery shopping more enjoyable. I’m telling you, I can stay there the whole day just comparing food labels. I know every Rustan’s supermarket is like that but this particular branch is the most charming for me. Oh well, that, or I’m just easy to please.

Back at 130!

When I hit the scale with an empty stomach this morning, I was happy to find out that I weigh 130 lbs. The last time I was 130 was two years ago and I wrote about it here. Coincidentally, it was also September then.

What’s the big deal with 130 lbs, you might ask. Well, for one, it’s my lowest recorded weight ever since I started monitoring my weight on a daily basis in January 2013. Back then, my weight was playing around 150 to 160 lbs. because I had just given birth to a baby boy who’s now an angel in heaven. Another thing, 130 is my pre-pregnancy weight and my weight on my wedding day (March 17, 2012).

First Time at Obando Church

Yesterday, the hubby and I, along with my superfriend Nice and my good friend Melay, went on a road trip all the way to Obando, Bulacan. It was Mama Mary’s birthday yesterday and my three religious companions wanted to visit a church we haven’t visited yet as a way of celebrating this holy occasion. We left our Bacoor home at 7am and we were glad to make it just in time for the 9am mass.

The drive to Obando Church (also known as San Pascual Baylon Parish) was long and tiring but it was super worth it. Coming from Cavite, after EDSA and Monumento in Caloocan, you have to drive past Samson Road and turn right at M.H. del Pilar St. all the way to Polo Plaza and from there, the church is only a few kilometers away.
