Last weekend was spent here in Manila in observance of the 2015 Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel. In short, naki-fiesta kami! Not at our neighbors’ houses but just at my in-laws’ and at my siblings’ homes. Haha.
While Mame cooked Pinoy style spaghetti and lumpiang Shanghai, my MIL whipped up pork and chicken adobo and buko salad. They sent their respective “handa” to each other and so we were able to eat a lot of food. Knowing my MIL, had she not gone to work last Sunday (when the actual feast day fell), she would have cooked more food.
I wished I took photos of the food but no, I forgot about it. Oh, I did take a photo of my MIL’s pork and chicken adobo pala!
Our Saturday flew fast. All I could remember was that I had lots of sleep in the morning while the hubby went to school, as usual. I then spent my afternoon with my parents at my siblings’ place.
Unlike last year, though, there weren’t much festivities in our ‘hood. Even the entertainment program held on top of a makeshift stage courtesy of the barangay council was absent (lack of funds?). The hubby and I just watched the parish-organized procession on Saturday night and heard the mass on Sunday morning and that was it.
On Sunday night, the WiFi connection at my in-laws’ place kept us company. Aside from blogging and checking out my social media accounts, I had fun browsing through different stuff sold by various sellers on IG.
this Opalite necklace from IG seller @lovestonedph calls out to me!
I also spent some time lurking inside Zalora’s pop-up store. (Check out more about the Zalora Pop Up store through here.) You see, Zalora Philippines is one of my fave online shopping sites. I even keep a long list of items in the Wish List corner of my account there. That night, Zalora had tons of stuff on sale. It took me a great amount of discipline not to buy something. But thinking about it now, my birthday is fast-approaching so I might just give in to my shopping urges anytime soon!
Of course, we terribly missed our Bacoor home last weekend and so we can’t wait to visit it this coming weekend!
How did your weekend go, friends? 🙂
P.S. It’s my husband’s birthday today (happy, happy birthday, love!) and my birthday falls a week later. We’re supposed to fly to Cebu next week for a short vacay but we decided to cancel our travel because he’s preparing for the oral defense of his thesis (research proposal only for this sem) scheduled that same week. He’s been very anxious about it the past weeks and I’m 100% sure he won’t be able to enjoy Cebu with his thesis occupying his mind all the time. Sayang the e-tickets (though they are discounted ones!) but we know our priorities, so goodbye Cebu, for now. 🙁
Hi Edel, happy birthday to your husband. ang sarap ng chicken pork adobo. Enjoy the rest of the week. =)
Thank you, sis. Specialty ni MIL yan, hehe. Enjoy yours, too! 🙂
Happy Birthday to ur husband and advance happy birthday to u sis!
Salamat, sis! Mwah! 🙂
Happy birthday to your husband Edel.
Parang gusto ko tuloy magluto ng chicken pork adobo.
Thank you, Chasen! Go and cook some! 🙂
Awww… sayang ang Cebu. Anyway, you can go na lang after thesis ni Hubby mo. Hehe! We don’t usually celebrate fiestas eh. Yung hubby ko lang and his family minsan nakiki join kami. Haha!
Masaya ang fiesta, lalo na nung nasa province pa ako. Yes, Cebu can wait naman for us, hehe. 🙂
Weekend was spent simply with the family. Your MIL’s adobo looks delish!
It was delish! Kaya eto ang taba ko na naman, waaaah. 🙂
I really miss fiestas—the food, the people and festivity itself.
I can imagine! You have to time your visit here in the Philippines during a fiesta. 🙂
Wow, that Opalite necklace looks awesome! I’m in love. Oh noo, must not spend. Hahaha
Hahaha! Opal is my birth stone so I might just get it for my birthday. Gift to self (read: justified), hehe. 🙂
