Weekend Story: Good Times with Friends and Family

So, last weekend was quite busy. The hubby and I went to three different places in two days. Tiring but super fun! I cannot think of a better title for this post because we really did have good times with friends and family. And for that we are thankful.

On Friday night, the hubby and I joined my officemates in an overnight swimming at a private resort in Pansol, Calamba City. It was hosted by another officemate Kuya Rene who went there ahead of us. (Thanks again Sumalinog family for having us!) We ate, swam, and videoke’d the night away. The boys also drank a couple of beers while I settled for a few glasses of ice-cold Sprite. We slept at around 3AM of Saturday and woke up just before our checkout time of 8AM.

From Pansol, we drove to Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas where we were supposed to spend the night at another officemate’s place. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl last February who was about to be baptized the next day, Sunday. I was one of the godparents which made the trip more meaningful to me.

We spent the rest of Saturday eating and sleeping and the boys, drinking some more bottles of San Mig light. The hubby doesn’t really drink but during times like this, he gets to make pakisama and drink a bottle or two. In my case, the focus was on the food. Haha. I also enjoyed watching my officemate’s family and their relatives and neighbors as they prepared for the handaan the next day bayanihan style.

We all woke up early on Sunday to prepare for the baptism scheduled at 9AM. The hubby and my three officemates even had the time to go jogging.

I didn’t dare join them because I needed to be early at the church for the pre-Jordan seminar for the godparents.

The Christening of baby Motmot (her nickname) at the church and the reception at her grandparents’ place after that both turned out to be uneventful. People showed up to welcome her to the Christian world and join the proud parents in celebrating this joyous occasion. But because we still had other appointments that day, we said goodbye and thank you to our gracious hosts as soon as we finished partaking of the feast.

I think we reached Manila at past 4PM. The hubby and I unpacked our stuff and took some rest. By 7PM, we hit the road again to attend the birthday party of my MIL’s brother Cito in Navotas. We would be back home a few hours after. It was a long and beautiful day. It was a busy but super fun weekend.

  1. Baby Motmot hehe what a cute nickname! And I didnt know that a godparent should attend a pre-Jordan seminar. It would be a nice preparation to all godparents, sayang I wasnt able to attend one pa. What do they usually talk about during the seminar? 🙂

    1. Cute, indeed! Basically, the seminar is about the meaning of baptism, why it is done, the roles of godparents in the baby’s life, etc. 🙂

  2. Ang daming ganap ngayong summer noh? Kami naman, may mga bakasyonista (my mom and pamangkins), at nakabakasyon din yung yaya ni baby. So, ngarag talaga ako nowadays. Pero madami ding ganap. I will blog about them pagnakaluwag luwag na schedule. hehe

    1. Ngarag it was! Buti nung pa-Navotas kami, light lang ang traffic. YUng church na yan ay yung nasa loob ng Fernando Air Base sa Lipa. 🙂

      1. Ay nadaanan nga namin yung Air Base nung papunta kami La Virginia. Oo nga, bilis din byahe namin along EDSA nung Sunday night. Buti na lang! hehe.

    1. Wag ka mainip, sis. Paglaki-laki pa ni baby Natalie, you can do more fun things together as a family na. 🙂
