Weekend Story: Antipolo Road Trip with Family (Our Lady of Antipolo Shrine, Mom’s Pot Restaurant, and Pinto Art Museum)

Last weekend was super fun. The hubby and I had a quiet time in Bacoor from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. By Saturday night, we were already back in Manila to spend the rest of the weekend with our two families. On Sunday, we embarked on a road trip to Antipolo. We had three stops which kept us preoccupied all throughout the trip. We were exhausted at the end of the day but we had loads of fun. It was definitely another family bonding to remember!

It was my PILs who really wanted to go to Antipolo and hear mass at the Our Lady of Antipolo Shrine. I was the one who suggested to expand our itinerary. Good thing they agreed to my idea and so the lunch at Mom’s Pot Restaurant and the visit to Pinto Art Museum materialized.

Our Lady of Antipolo Shrine

We reached the shrine just in time for the 9AM mass. As usual, churchgoers were all over the place. When the mass had finished, we all joined the long queue to check out the Our Lady of Antipolo image at the second floor of the church building.

Mom’s Pot Restaurant

From the shrine, we headed to Mom’s Pot Restaurant for lunch. I was googling affordable restaurants in Antipolo when I chanced upon this cheap buffet place. For just PHP125, you could enjoy an eat-all-you-can lunch or dinner there. I checked the reviews and most of them were positive. I didn’t expect a lot from the selection (the price range serves as a good indicator of it!), I just wanted my companions to enjoy the food and get full. We were a group of nine (napuyat sa gala nung nakaraang araw ang isa kaya nagpaiwan na lang) so I thought of calling the resto in advance to reserve a table.

I’m happy to report that the resto and its food were okay. There was nothing special about the menu but everything we ate was filling.

There are three meat dishes (two chicken and one pork), three veggie dishes, one soup, and two desserts. I particularly loved their tasty fried chicken and their two desserts: gulaman and palitao. The place was plain (and dusty at some point) but the plates and utensils were clean. The service was slow but friendly. Our experience was akin to visiting an old aunt’s house and eating the homecooked meal she prepared for us. We came and ate to our heart’s content, fuss-free. My companions were satisfied and so was I. Dahil dyan, tingin ko sulit na ang binayad namin!

Pinto Art Museum

Our last stop was the Pinto Art Museum (PAM). This has been in our list of places to visit, so finally napuntahan din, hehe. Andami nga lang tao that day. At past 1PM, the sun was also scorching hot. The place has no air-conditioning but trees are everywhere to provide ventilation and shade from sunlight. Rates are as follows: PHP200 for adults, PHP180 for senior citizens/PWDs and PHP100 for students with valid school ID.

As we had expected, Instagram-worthy nga ang bawat sulok ng PAM. Picture-to-sawa kami:

Tip: Wear comfy clothes and shoes and bring some pamaypay or kung ma-gadget ka, portable electric fan. Actually, because of the heat and the crowd, it’s inevitable that you’ll perspire while walking within the premises and checking out the different art galleries so it’s better to take a break every now and then. Keep yourself hydrated as well. There is a cafe at PAM so if ever you get hungry or thirsty, food and drinks are within reach.

We didn’t eat at the cafe, though, as we were still full from lunch. We just stopped by a 7-Eleven store to buy water. Then, we all decided to go to Robinsons Magnolia for merienda.

The oldies in our group requested for ice cream to cool them down. We took them to Magnolia Flavor House where we ordered ice cream and clubhouse sandwiches. Solved!

Perhaps fueled by the sugar we just ingested, we even had the energy to go around the mall and shop for some supplies before going home. Talk about making the most of our quick mall trip. Haha.

Have a great week, friends! 🙂

May you choose happiness always,

  1. I was thinking of having my maternity shoot before at Pinto Art Museum. But a friend who also had a family photoshoot at PAM discouraged me. Maganda daw talaga, but it’s crowded and the heat is not suitable for pregnant women. I do hope I can visit it soon. Anyway, did you buy kasuy and kakanin from Antipolo? Grabe, super favorite ko ‘yun! :p

    1. True, I wouldn’t advise it to pregnant women to have a photoshoot there because of the heat. Saka nung binasa ko yung photoshoot rates, namahalan ako, hahaha.

Yes, we did, sis! Laging may dagdag at libre tikim pa, hehe. 🙂

  2. Nagtry kami pumunta dyan sa pinto art museum before kaso sakto closed sila. Next time try namin ulit.
natawa naman ako dun sa “we are the kids that your parents warned you about” sabay “that’s really them” haha
btw, I love your outfit sis! classy 🙂

  3. Jampacked Sunday! Sunday pa lang yun ha! At finally, nakapunta rin kayo ng Pinto! Ganda don, ‘no?

Mukhang sulit yung kinainan nyo nga hehe. At ang ganda nung church. Kasuy and kakanin nga pala ang uso don! Makabalik nga doon one time.

  4. Grabe ang sulit naman ng 125 na buffet! 🙂 Tagal ko na gustong puntahan yung Pinto Art Museum, pero never nag ka time. Itong last na uwi ko, wala rin akong napuntahan nakakainis but I was able to spend time with the family and that is more important than any gala 🙂 Thank you for sharing your Pinto photos, sana next time may chance na ko 🙂

Bongga, hehe. Yes, punta ka, ganda dun! 🙂

  5. Yay! Inaantay ko talaga ‘tong weekend story mo when I saw your post on Instagram. Mark and I had it all to ourselves nung nagpunta kami, pero ayun nga medyo mainit nga. Ang saya! Namiss ko tuloy lalo ang Antipolo. 😀

    1. Thank you, sis! 🙂

  6. Nyay! Ganda nga talaga ng PAM. Kaso parang di pala pwede sa amin. Since bawal si kakay sa init. :-S Maybe soon or pag naatim kong iwan sya. Ang saya nung family get away nyo. We went to Antipolo din last August to celebrate my Papa’s birthday pero church at Rob Magnolia lang kami kasi late kami umalis. Nyaharhar!

Thank you, sis! 🙂

  7. First of all, the church looks beautiful! I’m a Christian also but I’m not a Catholic. Pero I’ve always admired how beautiful the Catholic churches are, especially when you get inside. 🙂 I’m also kind of curious about the Pinto Art Museum. Sobrang hype niya, and I must say mukhang maganda din talaga yung lugar. Great post! I’m pretty sure you had a wonderful time with your loved ones. Hope to hear from you soon!
