Low-Cost Housing in Cavite

I’m a proud owner of a low-cost housing unit in Cavite. It’s actually my gift to my parents who are currently living there. I chose a low-cost house over an expensive one for practical reason. I’d rather go for a low-cost house that I could finish paying for than an expensive one that could end up in the hands of the bank at a slight twist of fate.

Slowly, we are improving the structure and the interiors of the house by introducing repairs here and there. So far, we’re done with tile flooring and back extension and we also bought some furnishings and home appliances to make life easier for our parents. We have more home improvement projects lined up, but we’re doing it one project at a time.

Hassle-Free Travel

In our efforts to have a hassle-free out-of-country travel this October, we’re doing things right. Compared to those people working in the private sector, it’s harder for government employees like us as we have to secure travel clearance first. The requirements for the travel clearance in our office take time to complete. That’s why we’re working on them as early as now.

This is our first time to travel abroad so we’re taking extra caution. We can’t afford to get into trouble at the Immigration. I’ve heard enough of those horrible Immigration experiences, the most recent of them was the case of two Pinoy bloggers who were accused of being drug mules in Bali, Indonesia. Really scary. I hope and pray we have a safe trip.

For the Love of Fast Food

Whenever the fiancee and I hit the mall, we almost always choose to eat fast food. Some of our favorites are KFC, Wendy’s, McDonalds, Pao Tsin, Tokyo Tokyo and of course, the langhap-sarap goodness that is Jollibee. My love affair with fast food started in college. It was during my college years that my appetite for fast food had developed and grown to its present proportion. It also helped that I was once a fast food crew myself, juggling work and school to get college education and have a better life.

Back then, my meager college allowance was spent mostly on fast food. Why not if it was cheap, tasty and served fast to the hungry me? Funny but when I was a college student, I could see the fast food counter filled with smiling crew manning chunky POS hardware from a hundred steps away once I was inside the mall with my blockmates. I guess it was the very attitude of these people (who are actually working students!) and the mouth-watering food photos on display that never failed to convince me to dine in. I didn’t care if fast food were filled with empty calories or that they could make me fatter than ever, all I needed then was to fill my empty stomach and survive college life.

How I Deal with Rudeness

Rudeness is everywhere. If you ignore it, it grows and multiplies. If you confront it, it either stops or dies a natural death. I don’t know with you, but I deal with rudeness quite differently. Sometimes I ignore it, sometimes I face it head-on. It must be because I’m the type of girl who chooses her battles wisely.

Why try earning the respect of someone who does not know how to respect himself? Why bother yourself to call the attention of someone who does not know what he’s doing or is simply insensitive of other people’s feelings? If my credibility is being destroyed, my dignity attacked and my reputation put on the line, I fight back and do my best to take the enemy down. I do the same when I am deprived of my rights or when my family is dragged into the issue.

Birthday Celebrations in October

Forty nine days to go and it’s October once again. I so love the month! October is actually the most celebrated month in our family. Why? Because it’s my birth month! Haha. And the birth month of my grandfather (though he’s in heaven now), my father, my younger sister, the fiancee and a dozen friends.

Did I mention that the fiancee and I celebrate our anniversary as a couple on that month, too? That’s why I always get giddy and excited during this month and everybody in our family is in the mood for a celebration. Normally, we just hold one big party to cover the entire line-up of special occasions within our family. It’s one unforgettable celebration made complete by nice birthday cakes, colorful balloons, cool birthday party invitations, and other exciting party ensembles.

Four Down, Nineteen To Go

After a month of monitoring my food intake (and my weight on the scales, too), I am happy to announce that I lost 4 lbs. It’s not impressive I know, but it’s not bad, either. By doing this mini weight loss challenge, I have found out that I can be serious when it comes to testing my determination and discipline to achieve a certain goal.

Now that I’ve lost 4 lbs. already, I still have 19 more to shed off to achieve my ideal weight of 115 lbs. I know it’s not gonna come easy, but I’m giving it a try. Little achievements like this are a big deal to me. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. It makes me real happy. It’s akin to when you join in a golf tournament and end up winning golf trophies because you played great. Come to think of it, the rule of that sport can be applied to weight loss, too. The lesser tries you make to get that perfect shot, the better. The lesser time it takes for you to lose weight, the earlier you can face the world in a better shape and with a brighter perspective.
