Choosing BDO Peso Balanced Fund (BDOPBAL)

Last Tuesday, the day after we received our Christmas bonus, the hubby and I realized another financial goal. Along with my sister Jodie, we opened a Peso Balanced Fund with Banco de Oro (BDO). It’s one of their Unit Investment Trust Fund (UITF) offerings. Our branch of choice was the one nearest to our place, SM Manila. Slowly but surely, this little investment, along with our other ones, will grow. We are already claiming it!

It was quite easy to sign up. I just brought two valid IDs and that’s it. (We have decided to put this account under my name for easy monitoring.) Oh wait, another requirement is having a savings account with BDO which I do have. Anyway, the account officer had me fill up an application form and a signature specimen form. She also had me answer a Client Suitability Assessment (CSA) form to find out what type of investor I am and if the product I was eyeing suited me. She also took a photo of me through a camera attached to her PC (no need to bring 1×1 pics!). Then I handed my initial investment and I was issued an official receipt. I got the Certificate of Participation (COP) after three days.

On Having a Small Space

Given our financial capacity at present, I think it’s only appropriate that we bought a tiny house. The mortgage payments are lower and the insurance premiums are smaller as compared to those of a big property.

I love having a tiny house. It’s easy to clean and easy to maintain. If something gets broken, we could easily have it repaired or replaced. Like when we had our built-in cabinet organizer updated, we didn’t spend much because it’s just a small one, too.

Weekend Story: Fun Saturday and Productive Sunday

Last weekend was spent entirely in Manila. The hubby had classes on Saturday and I had to go to work yesterday so we ditched the idea of spending the weekend in Bacoor. It turned out to be a good decision because we had ample time to spend with our respective families.

On Saturday, while the hubby was getting to know his new teachers and classmates at the university (read: first day of classes), I crossed the street and went to my siblings’ place to bond with my family.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Music Lovers

If you have a music lover friend or family member, what would you get him/her for Christmas? I can only think of a few things. Why not a personalized CD with a compilation of his/her favorite songs? How about a ticket to a local concert? Or better yet, a gift certificate to some record bar or online music store?

If he/she’s talented and can play a musical instrument, why not gift him/her with a badass guitar from the Gibson launch? There are actually more fun stuff to give them, you just have to think a bit.

Swamped with Work

November and December are the busiest months in our office. This is when we organize many events for our direct client. The past weeks have been pretty manageable but this week is starting to get toxic. But I’m not complaining. I love my job because of many reasons.

I guess I just wanna breathe and to do that, I have to blog. And try a new restaurant or a new place. And spend more time with the hubby and my family. (That’s where weekends come in!) After that, I can face my job again and be productive. And the cycle repeats itself.

Decorating for Christmas

Have you started decorating for Christmas? I haven’t. Good thing we just have a tiny house and decorating it for the holiday season is easy. The hubby and I plan to work on it this coming weekend. Hopefully, we don’t get lazy by then. Haha.

We just have a few Christmas decors like some lanterns and garlands and Christmas balls. No, we don’t have a Christmas tree. Yet. I wonder if there are christopher radko christmas ornaments available in our local malls? I heard they have items that work best in tiny houses like ours.
