Back from the Beach Trip

My first summer outing has just come to an end. As expected, it was fun and relaxing. I couldn’t ask for more. Two days of basking in the sun and frolicking in the surprisingly clear Quezon waters was invigorating. I loved the touch of my feet in the fine brown sand. At one moment, I even felt like I was in Panglao and Boracay. The private beach resort we went to was plain and nothing exceptional but it sure relieved my longing for the sea and all the fun that came with it. I was very satisfied.

Now that I’m back home, I can’t help but reminisce of my first summer adventure this 2011. Spending time with the fiancee and his officemates is something I won’t mind doing again. The road trip we had Friday night was an awesome experience in itself, from the zig zag road and the stop overs to our funny car conversations and finally, arrival in our lodging house for the night. I was exhausted when I got home, yes, but it was all worth it. I would have wanted to extend our stay in Quezon but reality bit…I still had tons of work to do online and offline. Actually I’ve just awaken several minutes ago and right now, I’m checking my mails while reading up human growth hormone reviews. This is gonna be a long night, but I’m not complaining. I had a fun weekend, after all.

My Yellow Gold Preference

Unlike most of my friends, I don’t invest in gold jewelries. It could be because I have my hard-earned money go directly to my savings account and my family’s basic needs. Instead of real jewelries, I just spend on accessories and some fancy jewelries made from inexpensive metals like Silver and Tungsten. I find them perfect for every day use. They also give me peace of mind as there’s a very slim chance they would get snatched by robbers while I’m out on the streets. Haha.

If there’s someone in our family who likes investing in gold jewelries, it would be my mom. I remember when I was younger, she used to own several pieces of gold jewelries. Unfortunately, she was not able to keep them because they had been pawned one by one and never got redeemed. This was during my college years when our family went through a lot of hard times.

We’re Engaged!

Yesterday, during our visit to his house in Cavite which is 80% constructed, my boyfriend of six years popped the question. Yes, the question that every girl wants to hear from the guy she wants to spend the rest of her life with! This time I answered with a loud YES. I said “this time” because he already proposed a few days before at the confines of their home kitchen. Back then, I answered with several NOs while smiling happily. Of course, those NOs actually meant a YES.

The boyfriend’s final proposal was impromptu and quite far from how I imagined it to be. But then I realized he’s really not the type who throws big surprises and executes them well. And though his proposal fell short of my expectations, I still love him to pieces because when I looked into his eyes while he was asking if I wanted to marry him, I saw the purity of his intentions and his overwhelming love for me.

So yeah, we’re engaged now. Both of our families were happy about the news. I believe the “pamamanhikan” is happening right after his parents’ Bohol vacation. We haven’t started planning the details of the wedding, though. Just thinking about them makes me dizzy already. But we’re very excited about it and hopefully, we could finalize things one at a time.

I’m also planning to create a wedding blog where I could share and discuss everything about our wedding, so watch out for that. 🙂

Money from Unused Leave Credits

Don’t you just love it when your diligence in reporting to work pays off? As employee, I love gaining leave credits and monetizing them when the right time comes. As much as possible, I avoid getting absences because it could only mean one thing: deduction in my leave credits. You can only see me out of the office in any one or a combination of these circumstances:

-I’m sick (the kind that gets me stuck on the bed for days)
-I’m dealing with an emergency that needs my undivided attention
-I have a very important meeting/event to attend
-I have to run errands for myself or for my family that can’t be done on a weekend
-I have a job interview *sheepish grin*

You see, I’m a good worker and I love my job so much that I always report to work even when I’m not feeling well, physically or emotionally speaking. I also do my best to report to work on time because in our office, tardiness is a sin. Well, not really. Haha. It’s just that the total minutes we’re late is deducted directly from our vacation leave credits. It’s definitely not a good thing, isn’t it?

The Holy Week That Passed

Spent the Holy Week with my entire family in our Cavite home. We made the most of what we had. We talked, giggled, laughed out loud, went out, ate, played and prayed. We spent our time doing the simple things we love to do. We were so engrossed in our own little world that before we knew it, Holy Week was over and we (my brother D, my sister J and I) already had to go back to the city. It’s one home-bound vacation I will never forget.

Have you done the religious tradition called Visita Iglesia? I have, but I was just with the boyfriend and my sister J. Oooops, his mom joined us, too! But she only stayed until the 3rd church as she still had work at the restaurant. We’re a small group this year, unlike last year where we were a big bunch, with two kids to boot (the boyfriend’s twin cousins).

My Organizational Skills

Recently, I have noticed that I tend to forget about things. For example, I’m about to do something and then after a minute I’d totally forget about it. To correct this problem, I have made it a habit to write things down and set an alarm on my phone. It has proven to be effective.

I have also noticed that I tend to get excited over things, especially when they are creative and innovative in nature. It’s a different case when something would allow me to make money…I get uber excited! Haha. To balance things out, I list them down and make plans. Yes, I love making plans and brainstorming on how I could execute them well.
