Latest Food Trips

If you were following this blog, you would have known I love making lists. One of them is the list of restaurants I’d like to try. This list is already long and yet, I’ve only visited a couple of them. What I do is I cross out the restaurant once I’ve tried it. Recently, I’ve crossed out two: Crazy Katsu and Holdak.

Crazy Katsu is located at the popular foodie destination called Maginahawa St. (Teacher’s Village in UP Diliman) while Holdak is housed at Mezza Residences in Sta. Mesa, Manila. Both are fast casual restaurants that serve good food at very affordable prices.

First Time at Obando Church

Yesterday, the hubby and I, along with my superfriend Nice and my good friend Melay, went on a road trip all the way to Obando, Bulacan. It was Mama Mary’s birthday yesterday and my three religious companions wanted to visit a church we haven’t visited yet as a way of celebrating this holy occasion. We left our Bacoor home at 7am and we were glad to make it just in time for the 9am mass.

The drive to Obando Church (also known as San Pascual Baylon Parish) was long and tiring but it was super worth it. Coming from Cavite, after EDSA and Monumento in Caloocan, you have to drive past Samson Road and turn right at M.H. del Pilar St. all the way to Polo Plaza and from there, the church is only a few kilometers away.

Review: Shakey’s PCM App

One random night last week, the hubby was craving for pizza. He then called up Shakey’s delivery and after less than an hour, received two boxes of hand-tossed pizza at a buy one, take one promo using his Shakey’s Supercard.

Just the other night, it was me who was craving for pizza naman. It was a good thing that I learned about the Shakey’s PCM app. (PCM stands for pizza, chicken and mojos.) Instead of dialing Shakey’s delivery hotline and talking to a real person to place my order, I used the app to order my pizza. It’s quite easy to use. I just keyed in my Supercard number (the hubby’s, actually), chose your pizza/chicken/mojos, proceeded to checkout and sent my order via 3G (wifi is okay, too). After a few minutes, I received a call from a Shakey’s crew confirming my order and informing me how long the delivery would take. You see, they have this policy that if you received your pizza late, it’s free. I didn’t experience getting free pizza, though, because my order arrived on time. I guess luck wasn’t on my side then. Haha.

Some Thoughts on Dining Out

While dining out is fun, it can get expensive. As much as I wanted to skip dining out to save money, I can’t. There’s a lot of new and old restaurants to try, which means there’s also a lot of good food to taste and a lot of good company to have a fun time with.

While entertaining at home is also a good option, many people prefer dining out today when meeting with friends or spending some quality time with their loved ones. It’s must be because it’s more convenient and requires less effort than cooking food and setting up the dining table and cleaning up the mess after. Personally, I do enjoy entertaining at home despite all the hassles, but only during special occasions and when I’m in the mood for laboring in the kitchen (which is seldom).

Sunday in Tagaytay

I will never get tired of going to Tagaytay. Ever. It’s such a great place for some chilling out, sight-seeing, and of course, food-tripping. Yesterday, the hubby and I, along with my SIL, drove up to the country’s second summer capital and had so much fun. We had brunch at Mushroomburger and desserts was at the famous Bag of Beans.

Sunday in Tagaytay is always busy. Families flock to the place to bond and unwind. There was no traffic yesterday, though, which was a good thing. Because my SIL hasn’t gone to The Cliffhouse yet, we took her there and as we had suspected, there were a lot of people strolling around and the parking slots were full. We parked outside the nearby Yellow Cab and Army Navy instead and sneakily crossed over The Cliffhouse so my SIL could take a look around the place while we enjoyed the view and took pictures. Haha.

Missing Binondo and Chinese Food!

Two Fridays ago, I had a fantastic Chinese lunch courtesy of our former boss (and one of my wedding godparents, too). She had some Chinese food sent over to our office all the way from a restaurant at the Makati Golf and Country Club. Ang sushal lang. Haha.

our Chinese lunch, thanks again Ms. BAA!

While enjoying the delicious Chinese food, I suddenly missed Binondo. I remembered the food trips hubby and I used to have there in the past. We’ve tried and enjoyed the food at Wai Ying Fastfood, Masuki, Estero, Dong Bei Dumpling, Sincerity Cafe, and Cafe Mezzanine. I planned for us to try more hole-in-the-wall eateries and dainty restaurants that serve authentic Chinese dishes but my previous pregnancy (and my delicate condition for that matter) prevented us from doing so.
